Amazon...here’s my story from today

Ok, remember, I'm wordy.

I like to keep a supply of greeting cards on hand, mostly birthday and sympathy.  That way, if I need one, I have it.  No having to run out and get one.  On sympathy cards, if I find one I like, I buy several.

A few weeks ago, I was at Target and found a Papyrus sympathy card I really liked, so I bought 2.  That was all they had.

Yesterday, I was wasting time on Amazon and searched for Papyrus cards  and they carry them.  And, there was that sympathy card.  Yippee!  So, from the comfort of my couch, I ordered 9 of them.  Yes, 9.  Told you I loved the card, LOL.

And then I ordered 1 of another sympathy card and 2 birthday cards.

They arrived a few minutes ago...in a pretty good sized box.  Hmmmm.  I opened the box.  On the sympathy card I loved, they sent me 9.....9 THREE packs.  27 cards!!  LOL.

And on the other sympathy card, they sent me one 3 pack and two 3 packs of the birthday card.

I am swimming in cards over here, LOL.  I could open my own store.

I checked my order summary.  The only option was to order single cards.  No 3 pack options and the price was definitely single card.  And I was billed correctly.

So now I get to contact Amazon and explain this one to them.  I have cards to return to you and you don't owe me a credit. I had this happen one other time, on a much smaller scale.  They had sent me two of an item where I'd only ordered one.  I returned the duplicate and they also credited me for the one I had kept (which I had ordered).

Anyone need an extra sympathy card?

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Well let's hope you don't need all those sympathy cards. Or you could send people sympathy cards for little things as a joke I suppose. Sorry you had a flat tire, your car broke down etc

@gidgetgh  Sounds like something that would happen to me, except in the opposite way.  When I would order several, I only get one.  Or even worse, I only order one and get charged for multiples.  😕

I would give everything I own just to have you back again.......David Gates of Bread

I've had similar things happen.......you really have to scan the item - pkg of 2 - pkg of 6.. - package is the KEY word....

Amazon uses robots to pull goods from shelves - apparently 10 doesn't compute 10 might be ridiculous to him/her.

LOL

@gidgetgh

LOL.  A few years ago I bought sympathy cards, 27 of them in a pack, at a CVS drugstore.  The lady asked?  You know 27 people who are about to die?  I told her we are all going to die and at my age, I hope I will get to use them all up before my demise arrives.

@gidgetgh LOL at your story, you told it very well! Too bad there is COVID, you could set up a table in your front yard "Cards For Sale"!

@fthunt I'm sure you were kidding but Amazon uses real people. In fact employees at one fulfillment center (forget where) are attempting to unionize. I hope they do.

Re: Amazon...here’s my story from today

These were definitely listed as and sold as and priced as single cards.  Problem is, I guess when they received them from the manufacturer, they were packaged in packs of 3 and Amazon didn't open the 3 packs to make them singles.

@gidgetgh   And if they tell you to keep them, I'd like to hope they last for years and years.

Re: Amazon...here’s my story from today

A few years ago when my DH was in hospice I ordered a shower chair for him.  One, just one chair.  What was delivered was one large carton with 4 chairs inside.  Well, we only needed one so I contacted Walmart wondering how to return the other 3.  Their response was don't bother returning, just give away the other 3 lol.  So I donated them to the hospice.

Re: Amazon...here’s my story from today

@Love my grandkids No Absolutely not kidding.  Haven't you ever seen NEWS channels coverage around Christmas time about the efficiency of Amazon?

Robots are programmed with items ordered and the machine goes up and down isles and with mechanical claw........picks - that's what it's called - picks the merchandise up and drops in cart.

Yes, of course, they have live people too - computer programmers and folks doing normal routine work.  Robots cut the number of people needed.
