@Laura14   Amazon still has the free 24-hour shipping no minimum, at least they did as of this morning.  I ordered two books to gift my DIL, and amazon immediately told me I could place another order, no minimum, with free shipping for the next 24 hours. I am not a Prime member.

@EastCoastGal You just need to choose the Staples option when you start the return process.  You'll get an E-mail with a QR code that you'll need when you make the return. 

Items should be in their original packaging.  Not sure about stuff that comes in that gosh awful clamshell packaging, but I returned a damaged sweater that didn't come in any packaging, so I just put it in the box it came in.  Don't seal the box because they'll want to see the iterm.  Take it to the Staples store.  They now have a counter for those returns.  There'll probaby be arrows pointing to where you need to go, but it's probably on the side of the store where you have other work done.  Simple process and they give you a 10% off Staples coupon when completed.

I'm a frequent amazon shopper with infrequent returns. Have 2 places to make returns, UPS and Kohls, both very near me. No Whole Foods or Fresh Market anywhere close by. When hubby returns a package for me he likes to drop off at UPS store because he's in and out in minutes, faster than walking through Kohls to customer service.  When I do a return I like Kohls because I can shop and use the coupon Kohls always gives me.  I have never paid for any return.  I sometimes have to put return in box when using UPS; never have to box item at my Kohls.  No label needed, just the QR return code on phone (I print the QR code for my husband to use because he still has a flip phone.)  Amazon notifies me of my refund within a couple hours.  Customer service like this is why amazon gets my business.

@Hmmmmm24  I did not have an "issue" nor "trouble" just surprised to learn of the new return policy charge.  Guess my UPS store is ahead of the game enforcing the new Amazon return policy.  My account was credited minus the $1 charge which was fine.

I just returned an Amazon purchase ata  UPS store today.  They scanned my code and made a label.  Ten minutes later my credit card had a pending  credit on my card.   No $6.95 shipping label and waiting at least a week or more to see a credit on my card.   I have been shopping more on Amazon than I have on the Q lately because of their easy return policy!

I also have no fees returning Amazon purchases with UPS.

$1 is better than $6.95, though.

Expecting everything to be free forever is unrealistic.

I don’t return much to Amazon & don’t buy clothes from Amazon, maybe socks & small things. I had a complex return for an item which was lost, showed up & a second order placed. We are lucky as my drop off spot is in our lobby. Amazon didn’t have an option to print a label or send a label by email. The instructions for the return stated that the driver would bring the label & attach it & gave the time frame for next day. I was skeptical but the driver did arrive & place the label on my package. As soon as it was picked up, Alexa notified me that a credit was applied to my CC. The same process was in place when I returned a shredder that didn’t work. I just have to label my package for Concierge with my name, unit # & that it’s for Amazon pickup by UPS. We have 340 units & a lot of returns.

It seems like there is room for error & confusion via this method but both returns were seamless, no charge, pick up next day & immediate reimbursement.
