Amazon will take care of you with 1 phone call. And, they DO NOT LIKE sellers like you have encountered. They take bad service very seriously.

Don't let this experience taint you. Amazon is an AMAZING place to shop!

I agree! I had a bad experience with a seller, and Amazon took care of it.

I also agree. All you do is call customer service and they will take care of it

Amazon's cs with my Kindles has been amazing. I just clicked the contact button & they called me within 30 seconds. Never bought anything else there. I google search for products their prices are high.

I purchased a designer handbag thru Amazon as a gift. It was well packaged when it arrived, so I assumed it would be top quality. Turns out the quality was not so good. The bag was defective, so I returned it (fortunately the recipient was my daughter) and they charged me a $52 restocking fee!!!!!! Outrageous for returning defective merchandise. Doubt I will shop with Amazon again!

You either are not talking with the right people at Amazon or part of this story is missing. I've bought hundreds, if not more, of different items from this company over many years and the CS is one of the best, if not the best, in the industry.

Something is amiss in this story somewhere.

I am very careful to order only if it is prime. Some vendors have the same thing at a lower price but the shipping is very high and some have restrictions in returns.

Thanks, shoekitty. I'll try it. Yes, it was shipped from a third party vendor. However, my question is this..if the item is defective does this mean they will put it back on the shelf, only to be resold. The item was a MK handbag. Turns out it had some type of crease in the back and constantly fell over, spilling the contents. My daughter did use it a few times, but, said it wasn't' t worth the hassle. The bag actually leaned back instead of standing upright. I contacted Amazon before returning the bag to explain the situation. No restocking fee was ever mentioned.

If your daughter used the bag you're lucky they gave you a refund.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

Re: Amazon Restocking Charge

Before using Amazon third-party vendors, I contact them to ask about their warranty/refund policies - not only for information, but to see how quickly and courteously they respond.

Did you try to return it past the 30 day return policy?

That's smart thinking! Smiley Happy When I used to buy a lot more on ebay, and other sites, I've been known to ask a question not only because I wanted to know the answer, but to see what they offered in the way of customer service. A good seller will respond quickly, politely, and with a response that fully answers the question.

I don't shop Amazon anymore. First they started charging tax in my state, then raised the Prime rate & now a restocking fee. I still check their prices when considering purchasing an item & they are usually higher. No thanks, I'll shop elsewhere.

It is YOUR state that is charging the tax. Amazon took the case to court and lost. Better to Educate yourself before you make unfounded charges.
