I just received this e-mail from them:
We are writing to provide you advance notice that the price of your Prime membership will be increasing in 2015. Your 2014 annual renewal will remain at the original price of $79. On January 3, 2016, your membership will renew at $99/year.

I'm wondering if I should renew. I'm ordering less and less from Amazon.

I received my notice this morning. This year's renewal will remain at $79 but in 2015 it will increase to $99.
For me it will be worth it to continue as a Prime member, less than $10 a month. I save much more than the membership fee in 2-day shipping savings alone.

I think it's still worth it and I will be renewing, too.

Not for me. My email said my rate will be changing in April of this year.

I'm ordering more from Amazon so will be renewing.
I'm curious though Bikki, is that all your email said? Mine mentioned the free video and how Amazon hasn't increased the cost of Prime membership since it began. Interesting if that wasn't included in your email.

Yes, sorry - I left that part out.
Even as fuel and transportation costs have increased, the price of Prime has remained the same for nine years. Since 2005, the number of items eligible for unlimited free Two-Day Shipping has grown from one million to over 20 million. We also added unlimited access to over 40,000 movies and TV episodes with Prime Instant Video and a selection of over 500,000 books to borrow from the Kindle Owners' Lending Library.

Mine goes up to $99 in June, but I'll pay it. With the new Kindle First feature I'm getting a free $5 book each month, I'm watching the Prime videos, I'm borrowing a book each month, and getting two day shipping on pretty much all I order all for $99, so it's still a really good deal for me. When you look at the real world shipping costs (typically $7.99 and up) when you order from other retailers, Prime is a bargain. I buy most of my aquarium supplies from Amazon now and I save enough over buying at local fish stores and other online fish stores to more than cover the cost of Prime.

Question for those that will have an increase in 2014. How long have you been Prime members?
My first renewal date is coming up in April and my notice read, in part, "We are writing to provide you advance notice that the price of your Prime membership will be increasing in 2015. Your 2014 annual renewal will remain at the original price of $79. On April 7, 2015, your membership will renew at $99/year."
It seems that they are phasing in the increase.
