and left a message on my phone that I am being sued by the IRS and to call back and give them more information for my "case file."
Is this similar to the phone calls that you may have received?
I don't plan on calling them back.

Yes, it is a scam. The IRS doesn't call people. I know several people, including myself, who have had these calls.

Do not call back. Call the IRS and tell them you want to report this. It is definitely a scam.

You're not being scammed unless you act on it. I guess this has been going around for the last couple of years. It really upsets me that people can either get, or auto-dial, any phone number they want to use for nefarious purpose.
They have no right. You pay your phone bill, they don't. Ugh, just don't get me started.

Erase the message
Block the number and then erae it from your telephone.
Yes, this IS a scam, the I.R.S. DOES NOT call you you concerning taxes owed, they will write you instead.

I agree. Contact the IRS using the number on their website.

Definiely a scam. The IRS doesn't make phone calls or leave messages. They communicate via snail mail.
My husband and I have both had this phone call, followed by a very angry sounding man who called the next day. Ignore it, as it deserves.

Yes, this is a scam; absolutely do not return their call. However, the next step in this scam is usually an aggressive phone call from a male trying to intimidate you into giving the personal information they are seeking to get your money. Call your local police department to give them any phone numbers that actually show up on your caller ID.

My husband received two of them, Wednesday. He didn't answer, so I googled it and sure enough it was the IRS scam. He blocked the calls. Our local news on Wednesday said the calls were very prevelant in our area. I called my son at work ti be alert about the calls and to pass it on to his coworkers.
