Re: Alternative (car) Shifters?

[ Edited ]

I'm not tech savy enough to insert the arrow...I copied the picture off the internet!! Smiley Happy

Yes, dual wireless phone chargers...it's not something I was looking for but boy is it nice to have them, especially when on a roadtrip.

Funny you should mention the Ford Flex, the Santa Fe is compared to it often.  It fit my needs perfectly, better gas mileage than my truck but plenty of storage room, kind of like a station wagon, with three row seats that all fold down.  Nobody but me seems to like the outward appearance either but I love everything about the interior.

I have an SUV that doesn't have a shifter, but buttons that you pull out (hard to explain).  It's no big deal.  Unless you keep switching cars with your husband who still has a shifter.  I drive my husband's pickup more than he does.

My car is keyless also.  So sometimes I get in with keys in hand and just sort of stare for a few seconds.  lol  Then it dawns on me.... put the keys away, push the start button (along with the brake) and pull out the lever for Drive or Reverse.

My car also has a phone charger that you just lay down in the lower console.  Except it only charges my husband's Apple.  There is still a spot for me to plug my phone in.

Just wait until you need batteries for the key fob.    I went to the dealer....and they put in the WRONG ones....key fob dead in a couple days.   It happened 3 times in a row.

Finally went to BATTERIES PLUS™.  It took about $25 worth of batteries.

Can anybody tell me what's wrong with a good old-fashioned KEY entry????

@Desertdi My Tahoe is less than 2 years old (2024) and we've BOTH needed to replace batteries just last month.  Got them at CVS.

Crazy thing is, my husband rarely uses his fob for my car, but they both came up *Low Battery* on the dashboard read-out.

Mine takes a coin battery that isn't sold at places like Walmart...   It's some "specialty" battery number (and a larger diameter).    di

Gotta keep up @Desertdi (g)  I've had my Flex for 14 years and have yet to need to replace the batteries in the fob.

@Desertdi   Luckily, mine takes an Energizer (?) coin battery.  We've had 2 Suburbans and 2 Silverados in the past and I don't think we EVER had to replace a battery.  (And one Sub, we drove for 20 YEARS!).

I like it!  I have a question about the front grill on your Santa Fe.  The grill on the Nautilus looks similar.  First thing I thought of when I saw it were BUGS.  The front end is a deep 3D pattern (and black).  How on earth does one clean that?  That's a lot of black real estate on the front of a car for smashed, baked-on BUGS.  Kinda should be illegal to make such a bug magnet Smiley Surprised
