I'm glad to hear there is someone you can call.  Wondering how to open an account.....meaning getting money from one bank into Ally.

To transfer funds to an online bank, set up your account at the new bank. Checking, savings, IRA, etc. Make sure you know their min. deposit requirements and fees, if any.

Once you have the routing and account numbers for your new account you can arrange for an electronic transfer  from your old bank account to your new account.

If your bank doesn't allow you to do this yourself online then call your current bank and ask them to set it up for you. Some banks still charge a fee for this, $10-$15 per transfer.

When setting up your new account make sure you ask how to access your funds! Some online only accounts do not issue a debit/ATM card. You need to transfer your savings to a checking account and then use your checking debit card.

@ScrapHappy I moved most of my money to Ally a few years ago for the .05% interest rate. I now get 4% and it's compounded daily. I've lost count how many times they send me an email upping my rate. Love them.

Very easy to open online and transfer money. You simply type in the bank account you are moving from and the amount and Ally withdraws it from the other bank and deposits it for you.

They also ran a promo in February where they gave me a couple hundred bucks for transferring more money into my account with them.

Highly recommend for rates and ease of use.
