Every state has some issue...
Too many there ,that i hate.
Most of the country has humid weather.
Anyway, Florida is a beautiful state.
I agree Florida has some beautiful areas.
And after having been to most every state in the union, I have to say there isn't a one of them that doesn't have a vast wealth of beauty, just very different from one region to another. And every one does have some things we could all live without when it comes to mother nature and her weather or creatures. It's all part of the package! LOL

@Spurt - So you hate gators because they have to eat? Or because you saw it on a Nature show? In nature, there is always something to eat something else. Its called a food chain - and the gator is usually at the top of the food chain.
Would it bother you as much if you saw a hawk grab a dove or squirrel for a meal?
It's the cycle of life - only the strong survive.

Yes it would bother me to see that......Some animals are pure evil, most animals move on when humans move in, but not gators...So if humans are part of their food chain, that's OK huh??...........(I also mentioned about people being eaten by gators)......other animals will only kill humans when they are attacked first.....
You can have your opinion and I can have mine!

Is there a body of water anywhere that does not have some snakes and maybe gators around/in it?
After all, it is their natural habitat!
I hate snakes but we have gators in our ponds at times and they are an attraction. People stop along the road to see them.
Actually, seeing one in the wild is an extremely rare sight!

When we went to Florida and stopped to take a photo we looked over a concrete wall into the water and there was a gator.....I guess it was beginner's "luck"............They always seem to be near people......(picking out their meal no doubt)...........
We have snakes in Texas....Ive only seen a rat snake, a garter snake in my immediate area---we used to go to the country most weekends as a kid, and in the Guadalupe River, we saw water moccassions.....Never saw a rattlesnake or a copperhead in all my years in Texas....
We dont have gators where I live in Texas--YAY!!! They are mostly in southeast texas in the coastal areas...........

the saddest part is they killed the alligator. people walk in areas known for alligators coming on shore, yet they do their own thing, well, the alligator did his own thing, eat.
It sounds like Florida is over run with alligators. The State needs to thin them out, relocate them.

Her poor husband, I feel so sorry. Especially after he warned her not to go there.

Yes, I would say it was 'beginner's luck!' I have lived here all my life and fished most of it and I go to the parks to see an alligator! One visits our pond occasionally and that is rare! They shy away from people unless people feed them!
The first 'gator bite' I remember, they did an autopsy on the gator and the kid's arm was the only thing in it's stomach. Can't imagine why but it is a fact!
What is a starving animal's natural instinct?
I hate to hear bad things in the news. Can't imagine it happening but unfortunately, it is Nature. Wish I could change it. You have to respect them just like you would any wild creatures.

I'm sure the gator was near WATER. That is where they feed and stay cool.
The water just happened to be near people!

I'm sorry she lost her life, but I don't know why anyone would walk dogs near a body of water known to have alligators. With one dog showing bites, I wonder if she was trying to save the dog or the dog was trying to save her.
