Re: All Network Channels, Why?

this is beginning to become a weekly attack.  It is not going to stop. Those that are interested can learn many thinggs and what to look out for even toys riding around........I have not seen all the channels but just watching CNN and I am so heart sick about this and all the killings this year and years past.  It will not get better only worse.  We have to watch all around us at all times...........I will not longer be going to places where there are many crowds but it seems now people don't care if many kill only a few at a time.......and I think that is what killers will be doing easy to kill 2-10 at a time all over than massive crowds.............we live in a very hate world

I'm sure there are those who want to watch the California event, the armored vehicles,  people running,  along with close ups of the SUV etc. However, isn't that what news channels are for, the voyeurs?

Enough, I wanted to see Jeopardy not a bunch of men searching a neighborhood, not inane interviews with overpaid speculators.

I know this seems crazy, but you could always turn the TV off and turn on some music, read a book, pick up a magazine, or watch a movie.

Or maybe go meditate on how mad you are that you can't watch Jeopardy when you want because people got murdered and really think about what that means.

Re: All Network Channels, Why?

Not the point.  The people who want to watch the news can always do it via the 24 hour stations, radio, online, etc...  They have plenty of outlets to stay up to date.  Not so for those people who get completely pre-empted.

Stations can accommodate both sides by doing a brief special report so those that want to switch over and do marathon news cycle can while leaving everyone else to their normally scheduled programming.

I don't think anyone is saying (I know I'm not) that they aren't interested, I'm speaking for myself but I can't understand why every major channel (non-cable) has to put the same thing on at the same time.

I don't see that as meaning someone doesn't care about the news and people involved, I see it as wondering WHY it needs to be on every single channel.

I thought the question was very well stated.  It simply doesn't make sense the way it is on every channel.  It isn't going to change as one channel wants to outdo the other.

The stupid thing is that they are showing the same thing.   It's not like one is providing additional news.

That is it exactly...it is all about viewer numbers and  competition for the largest amount of viewers!  Actually it was quite intersting to see the different approach each different channel took in presenting the same info.   That said, watching Jeopardy would not be my first thought while all those families were being destroyed by some crazy people.

Re: All Network Channels, Why?

Channels cover breaking news events in different ways. Each one picks their own experts to analyze situations. Each one has a different focus depending on viewer demographics. It isn't like all of them present things identically.

Strange you call this a California event, like something coming out of Hollywood.  I doubt the families of those killed or injured are feeling like it has been an event.  Perhaps you need to watch some of the new channels to realize what is in store for our country.

Just saw a news conference where the first officer on the scene referred to what happened as the California event several times. So are you going to fault him as well?
