@Mj12- but not if you are charged with se**l harassment....golden parachutes are given for many reasons but not for such things as embezzlement or impropriety
Of course and IMO he doesn't deserve it (a big payout) but my point is, no one here knows what is in his contract. It's all speculation.
@Mj12- yep nor the terms of the settlement if there is one? Fox announced they are still investigating

With regard to Mr. Ailes position at Fox news, my opinion is that the decision to let him go is not solely based on the headlines. There is an undercurrent or some other bad behavior that his employers are aware of and want him to quit or be fired.
ITA.
The Murdoch sons have strongly disagreed with Ailes and the way he runs the operation for years.
What he supposedly did with women who worked for him is appalling.
But what is truly obscene is the way he had coarsened political dialogue and separated reporting of the news from objective facts.
That, IMO, is why the sons wanted him gone.
It's a new world.

Actually they are now negotiating his departure. It's well beyond any further "investigating."
What an irony, Susan Estrich is his lawyer, negotiating his severance package!

I've been watching the Rep. convention on Foxnews and they broke in with a report that Roger Ailes is still on the job and that Megyn Kelly has not spoken publicly about any past harassment by Roger Ailes, despite whatever New York magazine has reported it "sources" have said. Howie Kurtz, host of Foxnews' Mediabuzz program, gave this report on the air.

Just as an FYI. We can say sexual now.
I'm not sure when it changed, but it's OK now.

Do you honestly believe what Fox is telling Howie Kurtz to "report"?
Kurtz, BTW, is a deeply flawed reporter - he has parted ways with previous employers over fake stories and conflicts of interest. Fox is basically the last stop for him.
Fox also had less than complete reporting last night too.
If you watch and listen with an open mind, and watch what comes down in the next few days, you'll see that this Kurtz "report" was bogus...Ailes last chance to bully his employees.

@Ms X wrote:@Stray This all happened as a result of Gretchen Carlson's suit. Fox had to open up an investigation, and between that and Gretchen's lawyers, there have been reports of a number of women coming forward against Ailes. I believe this is definitely precipitated by these events. If he does leave by Aug. 1, as has been reported even before the events of today, that will be what pushed him out the door.
@Ms X- I know what you are saying but she is no longer under contract with Fox and legally they owe her nothing....however, they may offer her a settlement to make it, him and her go away....that's if he admitted guilt or they are strongly suspicious it did take place. The Megyn Kelly claim is more significant as she is not disgruntled and Ailes is responsible for her success....but she walked back her statement, possibly....it's a strange case. If he admitted guilt or they established strong probability, they didn't have to give him anything....but $40 million if true, is quite unusual
I doubt she'd be suing if she couldn't get anything legally. Isn't she claiming she was harassed and then retaliated against, including let go?
@Ms X- the court assigns damages if he is found guilty....so far it hasn't gone to court and there is no admission of guilt...anyone can sue but it doesn't mean you win or it's legit ....She isn't suing Fox or Doocy but Ailes personally so he allegedly retaliated not the network. Fox won't be paying her anything unless they decide to; she has no beef with Fox as they were unaware. if she went through the grievance process and launched the investigation at the time and Ailes retaliated, Fox would be responsible because the victim is guaranteed privacy and protection from retaliation once the complaint is lodged.....she was foolish not to and that may work against her in arbitration but she stands a better chance with a jury which is why her attorneys are against arbitration.

Further irony...not only is Susan Estrich serving as Ailes lawyer, the story that he was being forced out at Fox was broken by Matt Drudge! The people who are here supporting Ailes are also often the same people praising Drudge for his "news" site.

I don't know Fox stated it is still under investigation and didn't mention the package just that he was still there working in his office.
