Each victim has their own reason(s) for not reporting the behavior and we (as women) shouldn't demonize them. Some women have been subjected to this type of behavior for a long while and accept it as, "men, as usual." It's not okay.
In all cases, tell someone, file charges, let an arrest be made and go to court.

Oh .... If only it were that easy ......... unfortunately, too many of these are discounted or dismissed as a "he said, she said" situation. It might have happened, but it's not prove-able.
What I wonder is how many who read this thread in its early stages when most were claiming Gretchen Carlson must be lying, or her claims were just too suspicious, will give the next woman the benefit of the doubt.
How do we ever improve the environment for a women to come forward if most women automatically believe the man ...... and assume the woman is lying?
You are ignoring the timing of Gretchen Carlson's complaint - after her contract was not renewed. That reeks of disgruntled employee and there is evidence that Ailes had been supporting her. I'm not convinced either way yet whether Carlson was sexually harassed by Ailes. Carlson praising Ailes to the skies in her book written only a year ago, and not claiming any sexual harassment until the station doesn't want her there any more is (not was) ....suspicious.

@Pearlee- this is odd....I don't know how accurate Drudge is but Megyn surprised me because he alone has promoted Megyn Kelly's career and arranged that silly Trump interview. I think she is playing both sides. She is negotiating her new contract and wants more money than O'Reilly.....so if Ailes is in, she may have walked back her comments but if Ailes is out, stay close to the Murdochs....I am loosing what little respect I had for her. I don't think she's all that good....Greta, to me, is their best!

@Ms X- I know what you are saying but she is no longer under contract with Fox and legally they owe her nothing....however, they may offer her a settlement to make it, him and her go away....that's if he admitted guilt or they are strongly suspicious it did take place. The Megyn Kelly claim is more significant as she is not disgruntled and Ailes is responsible for her success....but she walked back her statement, possibly....it's a strange case. If he admitted guilt or they established strong probability, they didn't have to give him anything....but $40 million if true, is quite unusual

@Mj12- but not if you are charged with se**l harassment....golden parachutes are given for many reasons but not for such things as embezzlement or impropriety

The siren up?
Ha, ha! It was up for the first two alerts, at least one an exclusive. Right now, he has a story about how much of Fox's talent might meet about walking out of Ailes goes. There's a link to an interview with Ailes' lawyer in which she confirms that negotiations for him to leave are under way. She says he might not be gone entirely but still might have an advisory role.

I agree. I think some women do not want to face what they have allowed happen to themselves so they cast doubt on those who are brave enough to come forward.
I unfortunately had to get a restraining order against my 2nd exhusband. He was a decorated Police detective. Popular in the community and so on. He was being shielded by his department until he attempted to strangle me at my parents home in a bizarre attempt to kidnap me. I had already left him after having gone through a DMV trial with his first wife. That was not going well for him. I had no idea about any of this. (Again no clue about this until after we married.) We lived in another town in NJ where he was working. So now that another Police Dept was involved he could not hide. Although he and his parents continued to harass my DD and I because we were going forward with the DMV.. I ended up having to testify against him in a grand jury investigation because my pressing charges was the catalyst to his dept being swept for illegal guns and other things. It was a nightmare and I ended up getting my restraining order and having to move away with my DD. But I would do it again to keep him from hurting us.
So when I see women judging other women or flat out calling their claims false it just disgust me.
I am so glad you and DD came out of this and are safe now. The memory remains but this is behind you now. hugs to you

I doubt she'd be suing if she couldn't get anything legally. Isn't she claiming she was harassed and then retaliated against, including let go?

Of course and IMO he doesn't deserve it (a big payout) but my point is, no one here knows what is in his contract. It's all speculation.

Maybe only once she was no longer an employee did she feel free to go forward with this complaint legally. If her job was uncomfortable before, it would have been awful had she filed suit while employed.
