Drudge broke the story about an hour ago.  He put his siren up with "Exclusive" and said Ailes has left Fox and will get $40+ million.

@Ms X- wow that's some package....did he admit guilt? Or was this Fox/Ailes way of making it all go away?

@Ms X- this really has nothing to do with GC.  Ailes was on his way out anyways; he was in dispute with the Murdochs....this was a distraction and embarrassing.  He was in his 70s and ready to retire....this is routine....Ailes wants his name out of the news and so does Fox... They gave him a monetary offer plus executive retirement benefits he couldn't refuse if he resigned.  He did, I would too.  Gretchen gets nothing until her case is heard in court which may be a long time.  She filed in NJ but Ailes primary address is NYC and hers Conn....so the courts will kick it back and forth.  She is in no danger, so no rush.  I think they will try to force this into arbitration but she wants a jury...more delay...He still has not been found guilty so Gretchen only gets money if the court awards damages.....UNLESS, the Murdochs offer her a settlement and/or her job back?? To settle and drop all charges.   It doesn't necessarily mean he is guilty unless he admitted it or they had collaborative viable witnesses....but that settlement is high for a guilty guy???

It's astonishing to me how many women go to such lengths to support a man who has been accused of such conduct.

Bill Cosby and now Roger Ailes.

Each victim has their own reason(s) for not reporting the behavior and we (as women) shouldn't demonize them.   Some women have been subjected to this type of behavior for a long while and accept it as, "men, as usual."  It's not okay.

In all cases, tell someone, file charges, let an arrest be made and go to court.

Oh ....    If only it were that easy .........    unfortunately, too many of these are discounted or dismissed as a "he said, she said" situation.    It might have happened, but it's not prove-able.

What I wonder is how many who read this thread in its early stages when most were claiming Gretchen Carlson  must be lying, or her claims were just too suspicious, will give the next woman the benefit of the doubt.

How do we ever improve the environment for a women to come forward if most women automatically believe the man ......  and assume the woman is lying?

It was just a headline at Drudge without a link to a story.  I believe Drudge has good sources at Fox, so I think we'll find it's accurate.  Now Drudge links to a story in which Fox says he is still employed there.  It also notes that Hannity, Greta, and O'Reilly have clauses in their contracts that say they can leave if Ailes leaves.

I think $40 million way too high for impropriety because he didn't live up to the terms of his contract.   Maybe a payout for the remainder of time on his contract?

@Stray  This all happened as a result of Gretchen Carlson's suit.  Fox had to open up an investigation, and between that and Gretchen's lawyers, there have been reports of a number of women coming forward against Ailes.  I believe this is definitely precipitated by these events.  If he does leave by Aug. 1, as has been reported even before the events of today, that will be what pushed him out the door.

Well, it's on the internet this morning ,,,,,,  MEGYN KELLY has told investigators that Ailes has made unwanted secksual advances toward her.

I knew others would come forward ....  here's a link for those that need to be spoon fed the details,

I don't need to be "spoon fed" the details but do want to see documentation when people make their statements.   Case in point: the thread here that Kate Middleton is pregnant.  NOT.  When people do not document their statements, I have no reason to believe them.   If your spin on it is being "spoof fed" well.....I'm really not surprised by that.

As for Megyn, why didn't she say something before now?   Because she wanted the millions Ailes was paying her I suppose.  I have no respect for her for not speaking out before this time.

Documentation? Because you can't just research it?

@AngusandBuddhasMom

No "research" was necessary.   It was a top story today and was all over the internet .... but maybe not really mentioned on Fox News  .....  LOL

Deadline is now confirming that Ailes is negotiating his exit.  The link:  http://deadline.com/2016/07/roger-ailes-out-at-fox-news-1201788998/

Check out Drudge for further headlines.  They change every few minutes.  Now he has a headline that Megyn didn't like the way he hugged her in 2006.  I'm sure there's more to it than that.  Megyn is a tough person and would not blow something small out of proportion.

It's called golden parachute for a reason - extremely senior executives get mind boggling payouts - it isn't uncommon. And since we have no idea what is in his contract, well, no one can say he didn't live up to the terms of it. The terms may have been revenue/ratings.

@Noel7- it does happen....I had the complaints on my desk every day but there is a process and women and men use it....they don't have to be fearful as the law protects them from retaliation....as a nurse, I had to withstand a lot of improper behavior and I endured it because I didn't know better....today, women are very savvy and don't put up with it or I should say...they never should put up with it....they can end it and not be fearful
