Tonight’s phony annoyance call on my husband’s cell phone. The call starts with, “Attention: your IP address has been compromised.” He listened to his voice mail and there it was. They even leave recorded messages. They feel so invincible that leaving proof of their calling behind does not even phase these thrieves.

Yup......."they" leave messages. I got the one about my Social Security number being suspended......

Yea, the callers also pretend that they are calling from Mircosoft Corp .
There is another scam where they will send you an email stating the same info asking you to click on a link in the email - Well, dont do that just delete .

Or the IRS has a warrant out for your arrest! A sheriff will be at your house shortly unless you give them money!

@Mindy D Hate those voice mails & the people/companies making them. Something a little different but did you see that people were arrested for a romance scam, some in the U.S. but lots of others from I think Nigeria & the millions of dollars that the victims paid - just sad that people do still fall for these & they'll never see the money back.

I keep getting calls & when I say hello the guy on the other side says HELLO GRANDMA ..... when I tell him I have no grandsons he curses me out with every curse you can think of .... I just laugh which makes him so angry & gives me satisfaction!!!!

I have an old cell phone. To save the battery, I turn it off unless I need it. I find dozens of "missed" calls but erase them all. I have heard just saying "Yes" in answer to a question can be bad. Not sure if thats true, but why take chances. I only answer the phone to those I know.

@haddon9 I've been getting those for years.......You'd think the sheriff would have been here by now......I'm "listed" in the phone book..............

They don't even want money now; they want prepaid cards or gift cards which should be a huge red flag. The IP address and Microsoft people want access to your computer. Never click on a like. I also got a text from "Wells Fargo", but I don't have an acount with them. The IRS never calls. We have dealt with them before and it's all done by mail. Locally, we keep getting the Utility company calling to say you have to pay or they're going to cut your power off immediately. I guess people still fall for it even though it's been on the news several times.

Gee some of us were a tad disappointed, we were hoping the sheriff would come and we could all share a cell and play some cards, games, and have some good conversation....those incompetent sheriffs---SPOIL SPORTS...
