Re: AMAZON ECHO PARENTAL UPGRADE

Never thought of that problem.

I can see it being a problem with little ones -  maybe solvable some how by blocking automatic payments although that would have to be for everyone in the house, and Amazon probably doesn't want to block easy purchases.

I also can't imagine the havoc in a house where 2  people sound very much alike.  Lots of times when I call friends and even family with adult or nearly adult children, I can't tell who's answering!

There is already a parental control feature where you need a 4 digit code/pin number for purchases.  They must not have set it up.  Guess those parents had to learn the hard way, lol.

Thankfully my sons who I gave each one for Christmas are older and know not to do something like that. Smiley LOL

However the nice thing in this story is that the family is donating the doll house but were keeping the cookies.

So at least someone will benefit from the mistake which I think is very nice of them.

Scratching their heads? They already have parental controls built in to the Alexa system. The mother of the girl who ordered the dollhouse didn't turn them on. According to this article, she has now.

No upgrade needed.

^^This.  The parental controls exist already, and parents are now seeing just how useful they are Smiley Wink

Re: AMAZON ECHO PARENTAL UPGRADE

Having placed orders with Alexa,  I find these stories impossible to believe.   When I order,  it's dog food that is on my order history and she still occasionally has trouble figuring out what I want.   There are so many choices that must be specified that I don't think a child could do it.... if Alexa could understand them.   I think they have some parental assistance.

Re: AMAZON ECHO PARENTAL UPGRADE

Even though I have no children at my house, I still have the parental controls on for ordering.   I have to say my pin in order to get the order to go through.

I guess I did it so I wouldn't accidently order something myself.

It's just too bad that items get a bad rap because people don't investigate all the options when setting something up.

LOL @mima, does that sentence indicate that you talk to yourself/think out loud or that you talk in your sleep?
