I had AAA for years but cancelled it when Geico said i had roadside protection with my full coverage policy. What Geico DIDN'T tell me was that the coverage only applied to my auto and not a rental car or if i was a passenger in someone else's vehicle... AAA covers both this scenarios. I added AAA again. My annual premium is $117 for AAA Plus .

This chart only show AAA's most basic coverage. It might not be a fully reliable chart. To see the higher level coverage, see the post above this one. For example, AAA Plus gives you $100 towards a locksmith, while the lowest cost membership gives you $50.
I went to a few AAA sites and I did not see the legal defense coverage listed on their sites. That doesn't mean that they don't still have this feature. You would have to ask of obtain a copy of the latest handbook for your region's AAA club.

I've had AAA ever since I moved back to the U.S. I'm often driving on my own and I want the assurance of reliable help being there, when I need it.
Over the years I've had to call on them several times. The biggest relief was when I got my F250 mired in mud in the field (like an idiot I listened to DH - never again). The cost of having a tow truck come out to our rural location and pull my truck out was worth more than my annual premium.
For those who don't know you pay per foot of tow line, in addition to the call-out fee.
Whenever I get a new car, it comes with roadside assistance for 3 years (like my new Forester), but I would still call AAA first.
And, to answer the OP's question: no, my premium hasn't gone up by $100. @beach-mom Are you sure that call was from AAA? I'd call them directly (or go online) and investigate first.

Let's face it .... insurance can "seem" like a stupid concept. Most of it you buy, you hope you never need.
It you have auto insurance, do you get mad at renewal time because you didn't have a bad accident and get to use it? Of course not.
My Classic coverage this year was $48 and I gladly pay it. If I have a flat tire or something I cannot handle, I can sit in my locked car and call them to come and get me .... and it's 24/7 coverage. Depending on where I was, I've never waited more than a half hour. No biggie, IMO.
So, it seems like a no-brainer for me. I wouldn't be without it. To get that peace of mind for $50 a year is great! ![]()

My AAA renewed without a increase in cost. I have just 1 car covered.
How many cars do you have covered?

AAA rates vary by region. Some regions are higher than others.

Ours was $176 for 3 drivers in July, that's the basic plan.
When it comes due next year I'm going to check the pricing and see what it would be as a new customer and put it in my husbands name or daughters name. Checking the pricing, it's half what we paid for the renewal.

We submitted a claim for a battery charge. We received payment within 6 weeks-full payment.

I renewed in September, 3 people I have the plus, $284.
It went up about $25 or $30 dollars.
