This morning. I had no clue what it did. I dropped my keys as I was getting out my car was when I discovered this mysterious little button that magically appeared next to the "lights" button this morning.
Got out my War & Peace user manual & found out what it was picture & all. Guess what? Still had no clue what I was reading.
Ford has tutorial videos on how to use each thing on their airplane control panel which I downloaded all after buying my car.
The button I learned is called the "instrument lighting dimmer." The button dims & brightens the airplane control panels. <------This sentence appears NOWHERE in the War & Peace user manual in the lights section!

I've had my car for 2 1/2 years. Tomorrow, I am going to go through the front interior like a fine tooth comb (which I thought I already did when car was spanking new) to see what else has mysteriously appeared in 2 1/2 yrs.

Yepper I got one of those guys too.
Now if you can let me know how to reset the unlock doors rather just the driver door I will be in you debt. Don't mean the child proof, that one I found.

Just a guess - the owner's manual was written and printed some years back - before they added the panel dimmer function. Not going to the cost of a new book for a couple of added features. Some owner manuals cover several of their models - same with refrigerators . One has an ice cube maker - cheaper ones don't. Just a thought.

That reminds me (for the thousandth time) that I think I have *Park Assist*. I see it when I'm scrolling through stuff on my dash (oil life, tire pressure, what language I want to use....).
I keep forgetting to check it out. I may need that some day!
Slightly the same, but we lived in a house for quite a few years before I realized I had a drawer right next to my stove. That kitchen was so dark! That dark. And it was a skinny drawer. Like 4 inches across. I was able to keep tin foil in it. That was it!

@Mz iMac could that be for your hazzard light? Hope nothing else pops up lol.

@fthunt The picture of the dimmer button is in the user manual. But, the function of same is not mentioned. Bunch of mumbo jumbo which does not makes sense. Me thinks, the mumbo jumbo is for another model.
You are correct about the Ford user manual. 3 different models are in one book. Reason for the 450 pages of "stuff." All the models are mixed up w/each other. Gives me a migraine everytime I just look at the book. So glad I downloaded all the Ford video tutorials for my model vehicle year. They have been a lifesafer.

@Mz iMac I drive a 20 year old van. About 10 years into owning it...I was driving to work one morning and a buzzing alarm sound went off....I was like what the He**? I had no clue what ii was.... I almost pulled over thinking something bad must be happening....
I realized I had left my blinker on when I changed lanes....I switched off the blinker....and the alarm stopped. I went OHhhhhhh.. so that's what it was....😄

@Sage04 They are "dimmer" lights for the control panels. My car has 2. The hazzard button is front & center on the main control panel. I used them for the first time 2 weeks ago. ![]()
