Re: A frivolous curiosity....

I used to have a cat (Ivan the terrible) who would follow me to the tub. Wait for the water to fill up. Then he'd dip both of his front legs in up to his chest....he'd usually double or triple dip.....that cat was hilarious.

Re: A frivolous curiosity....

My little dog follows me everywhere. I have a Chihuahua and I wasn't a fan of small dogs but I took it from my daughter. I used to babysit him on days my daughter worked a long day and he ended up liking it better here. He would whine by the door when she took him back home so he is mine now.

Little dogs are so much different than big dogs which I have always had. He is so jealous, if the cat comes near me he jumps on my lap to be closer to my face. When I have had my grandson here and I was holding him he jumped on the couch and jumped right on my grandson who I was holding in my arms and laid down right on top of him. He wasn't mean to him at all, he just wants to be closer physically to me than anyone else. I need to watch the Dog Whisperer to find out how to handle this. I think they are a naturally high strung and jealous breed but this dog is ridiculous. I love him so much though, I spoil the heck out of him and he probably needs doggie therapy! lol.. Anywhere I go I have to watch my feet so I don't accidentally step on him because he is ALWAYS right behind me.

When I go to put my shoes on he runs around in circles around me barking his head off because he wants to go with me.

My cat on the other hand, I think she is still pi$ $ed that we live here too.

Re: A frivolous curiosity....

I close the door when I use the BR but when we had our dog she would lie on the rug in the BR while I took a bath. I would flick water in her face and she would lick it off her nose. As soon as I stood up to get out she would get up and leave - she would be waiting for me in the bedroom.

Our cat won't put up with any closed doors. If the bathroom door is not totally shut, she will push it open. If it is shut, she will bang on it with her paws.

Is that your Tortitude kitty? All of ours over the years freak out if an inside door is shut. The older kitty claws at the couple of doors that have set-in glass. She won't stop until we open it.

Our Tortitude kitty is more patient, but she will try to open them herself, or just sit and wait.

Yes, that's the one.

Ours does not have claws (and I didn't do that - she came that way from the Shelter - I feel I always have to say that because folks freak out thinking I tortured her - and I would never do that) so she can't claw the door, but she manages to bang on it.

She also has this neat trick in the morning of getting on top of me and hitting me - bam bam bam -with her paws - to let me know it is past time that she was fed.

I love her with tho - with all her tortitude.

Re: A frivolous curiosity....

Our last girl, Lizzy who is now passed could be what appeared to be sound asleep. As soon as one of us went into the bathroom, she would come in and it was if she was saying "Oh, there you are" and then go back and lay down again. Rarely did she ever stay in there. It was just like she wanted to "know" where one of us was.

Nice thread.

Mine sits outside the door until I reappear. The dog AND the cat.

Re: A frivolous curiosity....

My cats are like Noel's and Dagna's. A closed door is torture for them. They will yell and bang on it and if that fails, I see 2 sets of paws reaching under.

So, in a word yes, my cats come into the bathroom with me. I guess I'm a captive audience {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Re: A frivolous curiosity....

Our yellow lab is always with one of us. He particularly loves to come and visit while I'm sitting in there doing my "business"....lol. He refuses to leave until I cuddle with him! We have a glass shower door, so he sits patiently guarding me until I get out and when I sit down to put my makeup on (I sit on the floor by the window-great lighting), he insists on lying down right there with his head on my lap. He's a total snuggle bug!

LOL! Mia is part lab, so she is like that. I don't bother closing the door since it is just me now, so she comes and goes as she wants, but sometimes she doesn't want to go when I want her to. {#emotions_dlg.laugh} I don't mind cuddle time but I do like my privacy and don't want to be stared at when nature calls. I usually just gesture to her and tell her "out!" and she'll leave but she does make me laugh.

Glad to know I'm not alone on this and cute posts from everyone. Smile

Hi Jules, Smiley Happy

You are not alone....my pup follows me everywhere.

When I use the bathroom, she follows me in, waits for me and follows me to the next destination.

Like tansy, I am rarely without an animal monitor. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}
