Re: A Second Look at Richard Sherman

Also, a certain senator's choice of running mate makes me think he's not the best judge of character out there.

He got great grades at high school and went to Stanford (and not just on a jock scholarship, either). When he's not over emotional, he's really very lucid and well-spoken.

"Thug" has been a dog whistle word since (or before) the Zimmerman trial.

Good point, clover, regarding Z's trial.

That's when I first noticed it becoming a code word.

I guess he received thousands of hateful tweets, many calling him a thug!

What a coincidence. Not.

Saw him on Piers Morgan, Piers totally defended him, made me see things differently.

Re: A Second Look at Richard Sherman

The way I see it is Sherman had a choice to be a gracious winner and bask in the glory with his team. He chose not to, and made a jerk of himself. You can rise above something or you can wallow in the mud. He chose to wallow. My definition of thug has nothing to do with a racist term as he would have you believe. Thuglike behavior was exhibited by Sherman, AND Richie Incognito is a thug, in my opinion. Sorry, but I don't give Sherman a pass for his immature, junior high behavior. It's a man's game; now act like one. No one else on either team behaved that way. It took away from the joy of the victory and the celebration of teamwork.

Re: A Second Look at Richard Sherman

I never heard of the guy until I saw this ESPN interview w/ Skip Bayless. Granted Skip Bayless is 1A and Richard Sherman is 1B, but this interview was saying it was a "troll off". Funny...Classic. In the first 5 seconds of the ESPN interview, ole "Rick" yawned on national TV. I'm out. He could be the 2nd Mother Theresa & though I might not call him a thug, I'll say he's not a Gentleman. Some might say "idiot" but he's smart & calculated...seconds after the Erin Andrews interview, a Dre Beats commercial w/ Mr. Sherman aired. Calculated on both parties? Maybe....the Super Bowl will be a "Commercial Success" even w/out a second of play. What ever happened to the "There's no I in Team"? Apparently Mr. "Rick" wasn't smart enough to understand that simple philosophy.

He could very easily have avoided the whole thing.
