What a wonderful thread @SXMGirl. Some touching posts that brought tears to my eyes. We never really know how we impact a person's life or community.

Just a few years ago, my husband lost his closest colleague at work. The death was sudden and unexpected. Jim was the last person whom we’d expect to die this way. He was a real outdoorsman, so much so that he and his friends were featured in an LL Bean catalog. I think my husband is still not over the shock of his friend’s passing.

@Vivian, I am so sorry for the loss of your husband's friend and co-worker.  It can seem impossible that this could happen to people who are so vibrant.  I know that I still look for my neighbor every day as I pass his home, waiting to wave to him.  It certainly has left a void and a sadness in our neighborhood, so I understand your husband's grief.
