Re: A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW

There is also the fact that as QVC has become better known, the number of buyers has increased many times over.

Ten or 20 years ago, when there were fewer viewers, QVC didn't have to stock the massive numbers that they do today, so more vendors were able to supply the Q's needs.  Today they have to stock such massive numbers, not everyone can meet those needs.

Re: A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW

 II never had qvc in the beginning so I didn't know their prices and what they sold. Now I am much older and find their clothes are too expensive andems, don't care for their designs like different hems, hoodies, tunics--not for short people.

@Sweet_Serenity

Isaac no longer designs or owns the line which is sold here on QVC.  It is owned by Xcel Brands.  That company has its own designers.  I feel part of the deal was keeping Isaac as a sales figure head.  Judith Ripka is also owned by Xcel.

(google it).  When I first heard this, I was disappointed.  But then I realized, it probably doesn't matter if I like something anyway.  I have liked everything I have purchased from this line.

Don't know for sure in these instances, but oftentimes these people retain "veto power" since their name is on the product.

@cherry. Do you really think very wealthy women shop QVC? If they don't feel like going to the mall, they call NM & order whatever w/ a personal shopper. I doubt they wear SG.

I have no idea, but, I some how doubt extremely wealthy women shop at Q. It's probably not exclusive enough for them

But what about showing some of the products that are available online that they never present on air, that would add some spice and change up the variety of the programming a bit.......Sometimes even QVC's reglar vendors come in with a product that is limited in quantity so what would be the difference........

And from this interview it appears that QVC's CEO, Mike George, likes working with small businesses....

At QVC, George said he has seen that higher purpose realized especially in the achievements of the small businesses with which the company has worked. “It’s not about buying and selling. It’s about doing things that are meaningful and purposeful.”

And look at the new product Tour QVC is partnerning with theTodayShow on....

I think QVC is also focused more on their international markets and expanding internationally instead of what's happening in the U.S.

PM style RLM & Shawn spoke of items coming. March sterling silver. RLM made the comment he isn't able to bring silver due to the price points. Grateful for my RLM collection years ago. If you weren't with Qvc in the beginning you'll never know what you missed. Learning what works for me came from ordering and trying. Have my favorites sure you have yours. Qvc base large and diverse. To think one size fits all isn't realistic. Middle class along with very weathy shop Qvc. Shawn will be in Hollywood enjoy live shows reminds me of living there. Last night ordered bisque before selling out. Incredible price, Qvc at its best. Why keep watching or shopping with Qvc if you have issues? Makes no sense.

 They must be charging RLM more than they do other designers because everyone else dropped the bronze months ago.

For vendors,  I think the stigma attached to selling on TV is long gone.   We've seen too many people become filthy rich.  Look at Bruce Makowsky who was able to build a $250m spec house.   Look at the celebrities scrambling for a product they can sell on a shopping channel.   How many have come and gone?   You never know who'll pop up next,  but a gig on a shopping channel is a prized plum.

@Tinkrbl44  Veto power?   It's obvious Isaac doesn't even glance at "his"  products before they're wheeled out for him to sell.   You'd think out of curiosity he'd give them a quick look but from his reactions,  obviously not.

Re: A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW

Before I start, I want to mention I have not read every response.

@Shanus....

You may have a valid point. I think I remember either the Q or HSN use to have a sales counter and it would be showing how many items are selling by the second. Now, we rely on the hosts to announce current sales and most of the time unless it's a favorite they actually rarely tell you how many items sold or how many are left. The hosts may say something like...check your screen and size to see if quantities are limited. Anyway, I wonder if they do not sell as much as they use to so therefore they have to keep showing the same products over and over to fulfill contracts with vendots or vice a versa. I really think it has something to do with contracts and commitments. We can't get a Macy's here in Jacksonville because Dillard's and Belk keep blocking them. D&B may say, we will contract with you but you can't sell XYZ company (Namr your competitor). The business model has definitely changed and I think there are several caveats to the reasons why, amazon, contracts have come into play, economy, consumers have changed.
As far as wealthy women shopping on the Q...I am sure there are a range of demographics involved in the shopping experience but do I think the 2%r's are home shopping on the couch...no, it would be very rare. I do believe there are many upper middle class woman who shop here but uber wealthy, no absolutely not!

Somehow, I think my post got off track but I am still going to post.
