Since there are at least six known strains of Covid if a Covid positive person undergoing treatment comes in sustained contact with someone, confirmed or not, that also has Covid but of a different strain what effects would the possible commingled infection have on the person being treated and their treatment protocol?

Why ask here? Ask your doctor.

I am reluctant to put her on the spot, but maybe @pitdakota might be able to shed some light on your interesting question.

I doubt even a doctor would know the answer.  They are only making "educated" guesses about most of this stuff anyway.

The virus is so new, there's not a lot known about it, but if it's like other viruses, immunity to one strain doesn't make you immune to another.  They highly recommend getting a flu shot so you don't risk getting two viruses at the same time.

@sann,   I have pure admiration for your response.  It is one of the most straight forward, honest replies I've seen on these boards.  Kudos.

Don't give the conspriacy theorists any new ammunition! lol Woman Wink You know they'll say, "Well...see...if you get two different Covid strains going at the same time, they'll just fight each other and leave you alone and you'll be fine." It'll be touted as a new therapy. I pulled that idea out of thin air, but there's inevitably someone somewhere who would think it was genius and worth trying.

I hope we never find out what happens if this occurs. Seems like there are those who are trying hard to make it happen though.

I think her question is way over most dr’s heads right now. So much we still don’t know about this virus, and it may be years before we do.
