I think the company we use has people who do the inspections and can do repairs if needed, and other people who go out on trouble calls.  If the inspection guy finishes his inspections, he can then go out on a trouble job.  Generally, the time window is 4 hours, either morning or afternoon.  We get a card in the mail when it's time for us to set up our appointment, and we used to get the same guy every year until about 4 years ago.

There's probably only so much they can do if they run into a problem.  They don't keep all the parts on the truck.  Only once has there been an issue found during inspection and the part was not on the truck, but they came back the next day and fixed it.

I will say, many years ago our heat went out on the coldest day of the year.  Luckily we have a pellet stove, so we did at least have some from of heat.  We got in line and I had given up and decided to go to bed when the guy showed up.  We're talking 10:30 pm.  He had been working all day on systems and still had 2 calls to go after ours.  He was able to fix the problem that evening, and it really didn't take that long.  We've been a customer ever since.

An excellent point, often, we wait and wait and the worker doesn't have the part, requiring another visit anyway. The way your contractor works makes a lot of sense and seems to serve both customers and workers well.

I'm really dreading when I have to get a new unit.  Ours is regularly serviced, but I fear it's on its last legs.  I've been reading about the new units and I feel just as you.  Seems like it always takes a bit to work out all the bugs.

We needed our septic aerator worked on today. We were given a 2 hour window between noon and 2pm. Then at 1, we were notified our 2 hour window moved to between 1:30 and 3:30 which was no problem. The company we use for our septic is awesome and always keeps us informed. We just called this morning for the problem.

Something similar happened to me last week.  For two weeks my HVAC company sent me emails that they had set the appt. from 1-5.  They didn't call and showed up at my door at 8 a.m.  Thank goodness I was awake since I am retired.  Customer service is bad these days.

One article I read said they still have more changes coming.

At least this one should last long enough for all that to happen plus work out the bugs so we don't have to deal with it.

Hoping this unit will out live us.

Installing a new roof so hope it will out live us too. That's when the roofer can get some shingles. May have to wait until next year. They have had shortages since Covid.

It's a good thing we don't have any leaks.
