OK, personal experience here. I've had influenza more than once. Last time I had it, I know how I got it. I was in Walmart Supercenter. I had a shopping cart and was walking in one of the main aisles. Ahead on me was a mother with a toddler sitting in the seat part of the shopping cart. Child was facing me. The child was coughing violently and her eyes were glassy. She looked very sick. She coughed and I was more than six feet away. More like 10 feet. I felt her saliva hit my face! Yes, I got the flu. Eighteen days. By the way, no fever. Tested positive for influenza. Friend at wedding got it from me. He had it for same amount ofdays, also without fever. No, I wasn't vaccinated. Stupid me, but it was only September. He told me others at wedding became sick later. He was father of the bride, so he did a lot of hugging, hand shaking. STAND BACK FARTHER THAN ADVISED FOR DROPLET SPREAD DISEASES.

@Mindy D @Thanks.We are social distancing for awhile to see what comes of this new virus.I have some health problems that would make it difficult and my mom is very old and frail.
i am exercising at h9me now instead of gym.We try to stay away from stores and only go during the least busy times. We are stearing clear of doctors offices, pharmacies and hospitals to minimize contact with really ill people whether it be flu or otherwise.

I visit a friend who is in a Rehab Nursing Center a few times a week. They have notices posted on all of the doors advising that there is flu in the building and you should not enter if you are compromised or do not want to be exposed.
I have been going there for more than two weeks since the notice was posted. So far, I do not have the flu, nor have I ever had it in my lifetime. I also have never had the flu vaccine.
I always keep my hands away from my face and when I leave there or any public building, I clean my hands and steering wheel with wipes designed to kill germs and I wash my hands immediately when I get home.
I have never had anyone cough or sneeze into my face. I am more worried about touching surfaces and picking up germs....the most common way to spread colds, the flu and most viruses.
It would be impossible to be far away from people in our everyday life. If I was that worried, I would just stay home.
If by chance I was sick, I would avoid people so that I didn't spread any illnesses.

Last year I was in the grocery store when the parents and middled aged son were shopping behind me. The child was obviously sick - he was sneezing and sneezing.....not covering his face. His parents thought it was really funny. You could see the droplets going all over the asiles.....got the shopping done in record time to stay ahead of the little germ spreader.

These poor little kids of today raised by wolves and I thought I had it bad with a clueless husband. Where is the world headed.

@Mindy D, I have been checking out in Wal Mart several times, the cashier ringing up my stuff and some man (its always a man) comes up right behind me. Gets literally in my personal space. Its different men, and believe me I'm no Victoria's secret model, so I don't know what their problem is.
But all I can do is shoot the dude a look, like you are in my personal space. Sometimes they get it and back up and tell me they are sorry. Sometimes they do not. I always pay with a debit card, which I usually have in my hand. I have wonderend if they are trying to see my pin when I enter it. They are probably just in a hurry and not realizing how rude they are. I just know we can't always keep people from invading our personal space, and I doubt this virus changes that.

My best advice is to do what we have always done go around and anticipate what the usual crowd does. Most people eat 12-1. We eat lunch at 10:30 or 11. We go early in morning to places we know are going to be busy, get in and get out is our motto. Do the unexpected.
Sad you have to be put out yourself, but, it works for me. My sister goes to walmart at 6a.m. Thank God in America we have 24 hr stores.

@MindyD I feel for you being around sick, small children the end of my career and seeing sick kids in public places and schools. Parents take them out anyway as say no one is home to care for them or they haven't a clue. My GFs husband works at Wal-Mart and got sick twice and gave it to her. Both had flu shots. Not blaming the store ,but good advice to shop early or late in any store and keep a longer distance.
I hope you are ok and Thanks for posting.

I have had this same thing happen quite a few times and yes, it’s always a man. Like you, I wondered if they were hoping to see a PIN number or something. I use a credit card to pay, so they’re out of luck. Probably just clueless, rude people.

Yep, I think they are just clueless, and yes it is so rude. It is so irritating, I may just start faking a cough the next time it happens.
