I am tempted as I need a small efficient heater for my bathroom... and then I could use it as a fan for cooling in the summer... PLEASE TALK ME OUT OF IT!

I have 3 little Broan heaters and also bought one for my mother-in-law. At their biggest dimension they are less than 6", in fact they are almost square. Now one of my hockey players owns his owns Electrical Company, I am talking wiring homes and businesses etc, and he bought them at his price for me.

He gave me 2 of them and I paid a total of $30 for the 2 others. Now our bathrooms are not huge, but I can tell you they will heat it enough to make you hot, even in our very cold winters here in Nebraska.

Also have 1 right beside me here in our Computer room, which is a 10'x12'(120sq.ft)room and on the low setting I have to turn it off as it gets too hot. These also have a "temperature control that you can dial up or down" and it will turn this heater on and off, if you choose to use this heater on a automatic setting.

It also has a "fan only" setting.

It would worry me about my two cats fighting over the heater and maybe burning themselves. They get into spats over the prime heating vent in our bedroom, despite numerous vents in the house.

Hi tansy,

None of our large feline family are allowed in our bathrooms or computer room(don't want my computer and it's peripherals filling up with cat hair), and after all, I am a male and I like my privacy when it a bathroom, as does my wife.

The only other heaters we have around, that are the portable type will automatically shut off if they are tipped more than a 45 degree angle. Our Infrared one is not hot on the grill(vent), about 75 degrees, and it too turns off if automatically bumped to more than a 45 degree angle to the floor.

Ain't no way I would risk any of our furry ones getting hurt from me being neglectful.

Tansy, my cat LOVES the heating vent too and parks herself squarely on it.

Re: $300 for a fan with a heater???

I did watch a little bit of the presentation in David's hour with the product and I heard some people call in and raving about it.

Then an older woman who lives in a trailer called in and said QVC is making her broke. She said she doesn't drive or get out so she relies on QVC and the telephone to get what she needs. She said her master bedroom is cold. It didn't sound like she had the $300 to spare for this thing and I wonder if the hosts or QVC ever feel badly for bamboozling older disabled folks.

ITA with all of you. It just makes no sense (or cents!).

John, especially with your example of getting something with a thermostat that has heat AND AC for $535 installed.

I wonder how the hosts can keep a straight face. I'd love to hear the callers justify the cost of the thing. But I have no patience to sit and listen to the whole presentation.

And John has a pricey compressor that runs 12 months a year. Electric companies love heat pumps.

kachina624,

What? Our compressor no more runs 12 months a year than our vehicles run 24 hours a day. The compressor in our patio room does not run at all when my wife is at work in the hot summer days. I use a ceiling fan and a "moveable commercial fan" to keep the air moving through our patio room. Having worked my 30+ years in over 100+ degree heat and running outside in the same, has acclimated my body to being able to withstand a lot of hot weather.

Throw in the days when the temp is neither hot or cold, but just right, which is most of the days/nights, because of our trees and our all door patio room, and your comment above is way off base a far as how often and how long this compressor runs.

Will trade our electric bills with anyone here that lives in a almost 4,000sq.ft home. My guess is I would be many hundreds of $$$ ahead in any 12 month period. I don't care if one lives in the hot weather or very cold weather zone, I will compare our electric bill costs to any one that wants to put up their 12 month costs for 2013.

Just because we have something does not tell anyone how often, if ever, it is used. Like I've said about our gas furnace. Sure it is there but it ain't been used for over 3 years now so our bills for in-home gas is pretty much exclusively for our water heater and water. Haven't seen one over $42 for any of those last 3 years it has not been used. In the warmer weather it is more like $15 per month.

Anyways! Why would you make a statement like the above when I have never ever even hinted that our compressor runs 12 months a year? I don't recall ever saying anything here about how often our compressor runs per year, but I do recall saying the AC does not run at all when my wife is working.
