Re: $300 for a fan with a heater???

They never mention ENERGY EFFICIENCY on these fans. That is important to me. I bet it draws a heck of a lot of energy and $$$$$.

Re: $300 for a fan with a heater???

The person I know who has one has told me that she uses way less electricity than she did with other heaters. She was pleasantly surprised when she got her electric bills last year which was colder than the year before also and how much less she was paying. That's proof enough for me. The bottom line for me is if it heats better than any other heater I ever had even if I might pay more in electricity it's still worth it anyway!!

Apparently, we both are. Hasn't this been around before, either in exactly this form or something similar? And I've seen others advertised elsewhere - just never could figure out how I'd save more than what I'd pay.

I am tempted as I need a small efficient heater for my bathroom... and then I could use it as a fan for cooling in the summer... PLEASE TALK ME OUT OF IT!

Gazelle, think of the other things you could get with that same $. Perhaps a couple of GILI puses??? LOL just kidding!

I bought a Heat Pump/AC for our Patio Room for $535, installed. And this actually heats the air in the winter to whatever temp we decide to set the thermostat. Same with the summer AC. Set it on a certain temperature and it has a compressor that cools this almost 300sq.ft, outside room, to whatever number we choose of the Thermostat.

Dyson, like many other electronic companies, are trying to use their name to cash in on things that are not make for extreme weather conditions like we have here in Nebraska. This is especially true for our patio room that has 3 outside walls which are all glass, thus little to insulate as opposed to drywall, and no product like this Dyson gadget will come even close to doing the job out there.

With all due respect John not only are you are comparing a fixed installation heat pump/AC to a highly portable fan and space heater you are describing a room and "extreme weather conditions" relatively few people have.

You bring up a good point, Pook. If it saves on the monthly heating bills then it's easy to justify. I haven't heard them bring up that point in the presentation. I know with the fireplace looking heater they claim in costs about 25 cents for a certain amount of use (maybe an hour?).

I heard its fantastic, but personally I wouldn't spend that.

Our gas heat is cheap. Its the people with oil that have to worry about heating prices.

Re: $300 for a fan with a heater???

We have a similar model and like it a lot. Over the years we've had many less expensive models that didn't last. This one doesn't gather dust and is so easy to clean. Our kitchen has stone walls and tends to be cold. This really warms it up. Also in the summer when I'm cooking, it cools it off.
