Just finished "PRECIOUS AND GRACE" by Alexander McCall Smith and "THE TWELVE DOGS OF CHRISTMAS" by David Rosenfelt, and enjoyed both of them very much.  Now, on to "ESCAPE CLAUSE" by John Sandford, which is the new entry in his Virgil Flowers series.

@SantaFe64gal  The one I read every Christmas is a book of mysteries by various authors, all in one book. All Christmas themed which is why they call it Murder for Christmas. I reread all my favorites. I got mine at a library sale. It was published 1982. I understand there are different years with different authors but this version is the only one I can vouch for.

I just started Better Than New: Lessons I've Learned from Saving Old Homes (and How They Saved Me) by Nicole Curtis.  She is the star of Rehab Addict on  DIY/HGTV.

Read A Great Reckoning- good, fast read, following Louise Penny's formula.

500 on a wait list - amazing.

I'd give 3.5 stars out of 5.

I've read two books in the last three days:

The Assistants by Camille Perri, which was pretty good. I gave it 3 stars.

The Drop by Dennis Lehane. I expected much more from the author, as I've really enjoyed every book of his I read. This was a short book, thankfully, and I rated it with 2 stars. Nothing like Mystic River!

On to Carousel Court, by Joe McGinniss. I've read the first few chapters and so far, so good.

sunny, funny you should say that about Dennis Lehane. I have read the first two and just ordered the third. I put Elvis Cole aside for a bit 'cause I'm on a Lehane roll. I saw the end of the movie, Gone Baby Gone-had seen it but since I now knew it was from one of DL's books, I looked at the cast. They had Casey Affleck as Patrick and this doesn't work for me at all. He's just a kid! This is Hollywood at its worst (and it's not that I don't like the Afflecks-both of them-because I do). I'm sorry about The Drop but I'm glad it's short.

@dmod nj I really like her shows. She's very pretty which adds to it. Very talented. I guess she's divorced? I've seen her son. Curious-what does she write about? The buying and the selling? Can't see how she'd describe putting in a stained glass window?

Hi @Judaline   I just started the book, and I'm a slow reader.  So far, the premise of the book is about all the lessons she learned about life, and her businesses, through her experiences with each home she bought.  Each home taught her lessons about life, herself, and her businesses.  

I enjoy her show but didn't know a lot about her background. She was very young when she and her boyfriend bought their first home.   She made a lot of mistakes and talks about them in relation to the house and her life's experiences. Each home was a teacher....teaching her lessons she applies/uses today.

It is an easy read. If you enjoy her show, like I do, I would recommend the book.

Just finished Lilac Girls last week-Great book and would recomment.  Am now reading Cold Cold Heart by Tami Hoag-mystery set in the Twin Cites-very good mystery.  Love Tami Hoag.
