Re: What Are You Reading? July, 2019

@sunala  et al, I had a moment of silence today as my nine year old Sony ereader’s end is near.  This is the first and only ereader I have owned and I used it daily.  Not plastic but lovely aluminum.  I paid $300 for it and what a bargain...so special to me.

I managed to call DH on the way home from the city and get him to pick me up the newest Kobo.  I want one that is compatible with out library system and Kindles are not here in Canada.

RIP in Sony.  LM

PS, the new one keeps the book cover readable even when it is turned off.  Now I may even get back to remembering titles with that new feature!

Re: What Are You Reading? July, 2019

I just returned Lost Roses to the Library. Strange sentence structure, I kept falling asleep!

I picked up Huntress and  I’ve been reading about wartime Germany a lot lately. Thinking I need a happy book for a change. Any suggestions?

I, too, have begun Jo Nesbo's The Knife.

@Lilysmom

I can never remember the title of the ebook I'm reading.

It is embarrassing when someone asks and I have that dazed and confused look!

Re: What Are You Reading? July, 2019

I finished listening to Whisper Network by Chandler Baker, Reese’s monthly book club pick.  I think I’ve seen it called the Corporate Big Little Lies, and, even though I hate comments like that, I did see some comparisons.  In fact, I’m certain Reese is already planning on playing Sloane (a character that had a very Madeline-like moment at her daughter’s school.)

I would give it maybe a C grade (3.5). I did like some parts. Some characters.  A message book about speaking up about sexual harassment and not accepting the status quo of women in the workplace. With a little mystery thrown in, that’s not really the focus of the story.

Listening to Bookish Life of Nina Hill next.

C/O @CareBears ,

I am reading Dark Agenda and found the context so very empowering, but also so very true. Well written.

I wish to make one note to you, Please read.

I will not be on the thread I spoke of anymore. please read in knowing of. It was not meant for me.

Definitely, I hope to share books I have read many times, but that often. Most are books of research and medical which might become somewhat boring - those types usually do a lot of boredom. .

Thank you for keeping 'us'  through @house_cat updated notes, from a very long time in the hospital, along while being in rehabilitation.

I am so peacefully thankful I finally knew of your absent.

"... I will be looking for all of your recovery notes throughout the year".... . It appears you have made great strides in PT. Prayer for a speedy and loving lady.

Stay well, recover slowly,  carefully and enjoy life to its fullest as I do.

One huge Heart for you and your husband. My best Always.

I always did care for your health issues. Look forward. !

Hello to @house_cat .

You have been a blessing.Smiley Happy

@CareBears   Welcome back and here's wishing for a continual recovery.  So sorry for what you've had to go through and have missed you here a lot.

A little confused by @NAES1 's post since I don't go much past this forum anymore...The thread referred to that you won't be going to anymore -- it's not here, is it?  I sure hope not.  Your reviews, your memes, all of what you contribute here makes me smile.  Be well!  Be here!!!!

Finished The Ghost Clause by Howard Norman.  Beware, it's being marketed as both a ghost story and a mystery and it's neither.  He's always been a favorite of mine but this is OTT pretentious artsy ick.

Still enjoying Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.

And reading a memoir, The Honey Bus:  A Memoir of Loss, Courage and a Girl Saved by Bees by Meredith May.  She's been a professional writer for a while and her style is nice and easy.  I'm all about the bees and it's a gentle way to learn so much.

I just finished The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez, a delightful romance novel that made me laugh out loud because of the witty dialogue and made me cry.  I love a book that can bring out all of the emotions!
