@LoriLori Thank you for your very interesting post. Totally fascinating as I knew nothing about this subject as we hear lots about the climbers but, as you write, very little from the Sherpa side. Makes me want to know more.

Have been on the HOLD list for Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens for months. Finally picked it up yesterday and it was a couldn't-put-it-down read. Excellent novel of survival, tenancity, determination, coming of age, education, loves and losses, murder, and self acceptance and biases.
Keep the tissues close at hand toward the end of the book! It's a heartfelt teary read.
Once I became used to the rural language, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The attention to detail for naturalists, lovers of NC's coastal areas and waterways, birding, and so much more is outstanding. Lovely poetry is mixed throughout the book.
Character development is exceptionally done and the story line interweaves well throughout the book.
I read it in 36 hours while committed to doing other things, but was drawn to this book. Highly recommend it. (5 Stars)

Just finished The Immoralists by Chloe Benjamin. I really liked it even though it was a sad book all around. There's been mixed reviews but glad I read it. Someone was nice enough to leave it at our Little Free Library and I've been wanting to read it.
Onto something lighter I hope. The Empty Nesters by Carolyn Brown.

Last night I finished The Family Next Door by Sally Hepworth. A new neighbor moves in and everyone is curious to learn more about her. She seems a little creepy but it turns out she is there for a good reason. This involves something that happened over 30 years ago. I liked all the characters and it was an easy read. Finished it in 2 days.

Just finished I invited her in by Adele Parks, it ended up being very good, even if one part totally disturbed me,
Next up The Escape Room by Megan Goldin, will report when I finish.

I am re-reading I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes. The sequel The Year of the Locusts is due out in September I think, years after Pilgrim. LM

Oh, great! If anything big comes up I'll post. Googling could find very little on that little piece of sherpa culture, nothing even confirming that men can marry multiple women let alone sisters.
But since this guy lived there for years I trust it. Like YacDonald's, which I added to the post because duh I had to correct it from Tibet to Nepal.
