Like most people, my eyes have changed over time.

However I've recently noticed that the color of ink has also changed.  A newly purchased book I read recently had print that was a very soft charcoal GREY.  Several other books I also checked had the same light grey.

I really noticed the difference when I found an older used book I've been looking for .... and the ink was BLACK .... and so much easier to read.   What's going on?

Has anyone else noticed this?  Anyone know why they are making print so much lighter?

@Tinkrbl44,

Yes sometimes I have seen that. I wonder if it is because it is less expensive🙄

Re: THE SHADES OF PRINT

@Tinkrbl44  Thank you for making this discovery. I thought it was my eyesight failing. I have decided every decision large businesses make these days is profit driven to the extreme. Could it be that grey print is less costly than black?

It HAS to be that.  Making ink in softer colors makes the text more difficult to read.  If they are going to be printing books that are less user-friendly, it has to be profit driven.

And not to be a smart azz, but your eyesight still could be failing .... mine sure isn't what it used to be.

Started a new book last night and was surprised at how muted the soft gray print was ... very difficult to read, and had to turn up the light to make it out.  Not good ... and not user friendly.
