The amount of sales from this forum are miniscule compared to the millions they make. It probably does not begin to pay for the technology or payroll it takes to run it.

I'm sure they are but remember, it takes years to gain a customer and it takes 1 second to lose them.
The "good" never spreads like wildflower, it's the bad publicity that causes a decrease in sales.
The Q made a very poor decision and never interacted with the customers, ie. people who use these boards. The lack of communication actually hurt their customer base. So you think there may be a "few", not necessarily, there are many who are truly loyal to the Q, they buy everything they can from the Q and some buy if they need it or not.
Customers like that are very hard to obtain and a sudden change such as posting or even reading could cause dramatic loss of sales. Remember the old phone game, one tells another and another tells someone else, well, you get the picture.
I'm sure somebody said 'let them keep it", no one wants to risk loss of sales and especially now.
Things are changing and I'm sure we'll hear next year a change again. Costs money for someone to monitor the boards, answer the questions and overall, have the criticisms written for anyone to read especially the stock holders.
You run a business, never sh**t yourself in the foot.

I don't know how you arrived at that ... or if it's true. I do know, however, that some posters sure spend a lot of money at QVC. I bet you'd be shocked.

My understanding is that QVC doesn't run the forums themselves, they contract that service out. That would imply they had a contract with a vendor to manage their forums. That vendor would likely have supplied the moderators, server space, and software. I suspect that the contract had a buy-out that QVC opted for where they'd pay X amount of money to get out of the deal early. After the backlash, they probably just decided to let the contract expire when it expires and let the forums die a natural death. When does the contract expire? Sometime "into the new year" would be a good bet. Will they renew the contract when it expires? Probably not. If another vendor comes along with a low-cost enough offer to manage the forums maybe they'll keep them up. I wouldn't count on it though.

@SWEET doesn't make a difference to me if their keep the forums open or closed. Once they close them for good that will probably be the end of most of my shopping at the Q. I do not want to have anything to do with Facebook who are not reputable in sharing and selling information
