@prettynotpractical Your blog sounds neat.Is it on the blogs here?
Dean Koontz was always good for scary.Sometimes a little out there. But variety is good.
I agree Salems Lot was a great book & great movie.I'm not crazy bout movies from books cause I love books & most time does not do justice.Have to say I think they have done good with S.King.Especially" It "& "Pet Semetary."

Here is another vote for Stephen King, although I have to say that I prefer his older work, and I have not read him in years.

He really is a master storyteller and has written so many other books that people do not readily credit him with such as Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, or Delores Claiborne.

One book that always sticks out in my memory as an excellent book by him would be Misery.

I also want to put in a plug for Dean R. Koontz, all of his books/story lines  take place in California.

My very favorite is Harvest Home by Thomas Tryon.  I re-read every October.  It builds slowly to the final conclusion.  With every read I discover something I missed.  Excellent book.  Don't bother with the movie as it was horrible.
