Re: MARCH 2025 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

[ Edited ]

I just finished The New Couple in 5B by Lisa Unger.  I liked it a lot - very twisty psychological murder mystery with occult elements which I enjoy.  And a NYC setting which I always enjoy.

It gave me Rosemary's Baby vibes from back in the '60's.  Lisa stated in the acknowledgment that she took Rosemary book and used it for her inspiration.  Great book!!

I read Congratulations the Best is Over by R. Eric Thomas which I thought was supposed to be an amusing book but truthfully I just couldn't wait until the book was over.

Then I read the Summer of Sunshine and Margo by Susan Mallery which was a typical romance about two sisters falling in love over a summer.

@becky1012 A lot of it reminded me of Rosemary's Baby!

It's Getting Hot In Here by Jane Costello was a pretty good romcom.

I read Things Don't Break On Their Own by Sarah Easter Collins.  It's basically about a dysfunctional family, where one sister goes missing on her way to school one day, and the other sister tries to live with her grief over the next 20 years.  And be warned, there is some domestic abuse. While there is the mystery, it's not a thriller as some of the blurbs say.  It's very character driven and the interactions between the various characters are well written.  The book relies somewhat on coincidences to reach it's conclusion. But despite that, I thought it was very good, especially for a debut novel.

Finished the audiobook That Librarian: The Fight Against Book Banning in America by Amanda Jones. Quite the listening experience as I felt my hair on fire from one moment to the next and almost pulled the bookmark a time or two.

Bottom line, a small town Louisiana librarian is wrongfully accused on social media of grooming and pedaling porn to children. The book documents her personal fight to survive and sue the individuals responsible.

Bless all the librarians and educators in the current climate.

I read The Child by Fiona Barton about a baby's bones being found when they are digging up property to do new construction. It was a thriller that kept me guessing for most of the book but it was a little confusing because it was told from three and at times four points of view. Also the conclusion was a bit far fetched-possible but improbable.

Sweet, small books that are relaxing to me: most novels by Irish writer ROISIN MEANEY.

At the end of February, I read her book "The Restaurant".

Her characters are involved, and usually very kindly, in the lives of others, cheering them on and going our of their way to help them live their best lives.
