I'm reading " The Third Gilmore Girl" a memoir by Kelly Bishop. She played Emily Gilmore, Lorelai 's mom. She is an interesting woman who was a dancer on Broadway and won a Tony award for her role as Shelia in A Chorus Line. I was a big Gilmore Girls fan so I was interested in Kelly's career.

I always enjoyed the show, also.

I never watched the show The Gilmore Girls and her name didn't sound familiar until I Googled her and then realized she was the mother in Dirty Dancing!

Re: Kelly Bishop

It's on my "to read" list, after I finish what I'm reading now.

Kelly Bishop was pefect as Emily, as was Ed Herrmann as Richard...they were great together. But that show was beautifully cast...and the characters, so real to fans.

Late to the game, I became a big GG fan in during lockdown 2020, via Netflix. I love the show and have watched the series through a few times. I tune in every now and then when I need a "dose" of Stars Hollow and to escape there from this crazy real world we live in.

Fun fact...there's a GG "FanFest Society" that does GG themed weekends in different places each year, where fans pay to gather in a GG emmersed wknd. Several cast members, (Greg Henry/Mitchum, Emily Kuroda/Mrs Kim, and others), the show's costumer, some of the witers, do appearances, panels, meet & greets, Last year my town in CT was chosen...it's our own quaint, twinkly, pumpkin themed cozy town in CT. They apparently loved it so much, it was chosen for this coming year's wknd again..the 10th year anniversary of FanFest wknd. I didn't go last year but am considering this year. But I did see them all descending into our town's center and green last year. This past year the main events were held on our town's fairgrounds, this coming year it will be right on our town's green. Fun. It's in Oct.

Emily and Richard were fantastic on the show. I still watch when the episodes are available to me.

I only watched a couple of episodes myself but I do remember her playing the mother/grandmother.

During the holidays it was so cute seeing the main character and that man she dated doing some coffee machine commercial together.
