FICTION OR NON-FICTION SET IN THE UK

I love love novels or non-fiction set in the UK: England, Scotland, Ireland and including Australia and New Zealand.

I would love any and all recommendations from any of you. I'm open to any genre. I have tons of books on my Kindle and hope to add more of this type. I have a couple of lovely series set in England and want any and all that I can find.

They can be set in any time period, anythin goes. Thanks for any help.

Re: FICTION OR NON-FICTION SET IN THE UK

@Love my grandkids  I read many British mysteries that are not based in London.  I especially like the DI Hillary Greene series by Faith Martin.  For something very different in the mystery genre, Roy Lewis has the Arnold Landon series.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

Anything by P.D. James.  She is one of the best great English mystery writers.

I just started reading H.Y. Hanna's "Oxford Tearoom Mysteries" and love them. They're set in Oxford and the Cotswolds. Not very cerebral but very enjoyable, similar to Janet Evanovich's Stefanie Plum series.

Just finished Morgan's Run by Colleen McCullough (The Thorn Birds). It's about the founding of Australia as a penal colony.  It was long but interesting.

And I agree with the poster re Anne Perry.  Her Thomas Pitt and William Monk books are great, IMO.  Mysteries and very atmospheric.
