Re: Conclave by Robert Harris

Thanks for the recommendation.  My library had one available and I can pick it up on Monday.  I saw the trailer for the movie and it looks like a good one.

I think I might have to read this book. The movie trailer looks really good, too. As a former practicing Catholic, I find it all fascinating.

I posted my review on the monthly thread, but I thought I'd make a note here.  I liked the book, but I hated the ending.  No spoiler, I just did not like the ending at all.

Re: Conclave by Robert Harris

I am presently reading CONCLAVE and it is interesting.  I am not Catholic by faith but most of my friends are and coming from a small town with a large Catholic population I have some familiarity with it.  Seeing the movie advertised on TV peaked my interest hence the book.  It's good.  Worth a read.   Many years ago I used to read the books written by Andrew Greeley, a Catholic priest and his character's name was Blackie Ryan, I believe.  And those novels contained information regarding the Catholic  church which  I found to be interesting.

@50Mickey

I saw the movie this past Saturday. I really enjoyed it. The ending has a twist that I did not see coming.

I finished the book this afternoon.  A very good book; however, the ending was disappointing.  I would hope the movie is better.

I went yesterday to see the movie!! It was very good and yes , full of twists and turns. The actors were fantastic and well portrayed. Being Catholic I kind of understood the process (refused to go to catholic school though) and I "sort of" had an idea of how it would end..... but then I didnt!! Will read the book now!!! ENJOY!! MJ

Re: Conclave by Robert Harris

Being a student of 12 years of Catholic school I remember a lot of how the Pope is elected. Also pretty much understood  there is a lot of intrigue about the voting process. I figured out how part of the ending would happen but not the surprise at the end. This movie is being talked about as a best picture of the year. I think it should be. The acting is superb.

@50Mickey , I have not read the book.  I feel asleep part way through the movie which is ok since I still want to read the book.  Your review makes me want to see the movie.  I went through the Catholic school system as well.
