Re: Beware of graphic and bad language

I always look forward to a new Linda Castillo book aboiut Sheriff Kate Burkholder.  I certainly don't find them offensive. I have read them all.  I was surprised when I opened this topic to see it was about this series.

Now, if you asked me about movies, there are very few that I would want to see.  I'm definitely not prudish, but they are much to grasphic for me.  Almost like it is just there to shock and adds nothing to the story.

@on the bay.............yes me too.  The story line of the book is good and I want to find out who the killer is, so Im going to continue to read it.  The details have gotten less graphic.

@Imaoldhippie-

I've had that happen to me too-have to find out so keep reading but wish it had come with warnings before I start!

And sometimes I find as I'm getting to the last page, I keep thinking I can't wait to finish with this book! But already invested in finding out what happens, so plod along til the end!

Re: Beware of graphic and bad language

@AnjalenaQVC..............Thank you for removing this 1st post.  I had to use a lot of restraint to keep from answering back with a nasty reply.  You saved me from that.

I did not see the 2nd post you removed, but Thank you.

@Imaoldhippie-

I'm afraid I didn't have your restraint. I shouldn't have replied but did.

I'm glad it all was removed too.

There was no need for a post with intentionally rude words to thoughts in a book discussion.

Just finished the first book in her series, and am dying to read all the rest.  Have them all reserved at the library.  The language isn't as bad as that on regular tv shows nowadays.  I did find the descriptions gory, but not so bad that I put the book down.

@lbwshop

I am currently reading Sworn to Silence which is the first book in the Kate Burkholder series. The language does not bother me and neither does the murder scenes.  As, long as it does not involve children or animals I am ok. There have been a few curse words, but not bad IMO.

I definitely plan on reading the other books in the series.

Re: Beware of graphic and bad language

I've read every one of these books, and it really is a great series.  Generally speaking, her books are usually not gory or graphic in my opinion, although they certainly have a harder edge to them than a cozy mystery.  I would put them in the thriller catagory, rather than cozies.  I enjoy them and have learned a lot about the Amish community from them.
