I find I get a little itchy when I use the wheat-based cleansing conditioners because I have an allergy to wheat(but I use them anyways lol).... You could try switching to soy or rice based or vice versa...Let us know what one you're currently using. Contrary to what some people may say about obsessively rinsing, I don't find it to be all that necessary--Once you have a formula that agrees with you--like, you don't have any allergies to it--it doesn't harm your scalp if there's leftover in there. I mean, the AA models with natural hair don't even get a second rinse--Chaz leaves most of the second cleanse right in as a leave in conditioner (He's got videos on Youtube of 'cleansing Katia' you can check out to see what I mean). I'm caucasian and I have left cc in my hair like they do Katia and I've had no issues...like I say though, I do that with the seasonals/pomegranite because I'm not allergic to soy...same with the bamboo green tea. The regular ones like Fig and Sweet almond, I tend to keep off the scalp and rinse better because of my wheat allergy.
As someone who was formerly thinning/breaking, I recommend the tea tree oil...and the cleanser if you're not allergic to wheat. My hair was scary thin, broken and just horrible before starting Wen 2 years ago. I tried everything in the salon and was ready for minoxidil but I tried Wen instead. The tea tree oil makes my hair grow fast--no joke!! I had to stop using it because I couldn't afford to get my roots done every couple of weeks--normally I go once a month or every 6 weeks, but with regular tea tree oil treatments I needed touchups every 2 weeks!! Seriously! And after giving up all heated styling tools, my hair's grown from a chin length bob to below my bra--almost to my waist now!! I'd say definitely check with the salon to see if Wen is ok to use with your current system--or if you want to try switching entirely to Wen.
I was terrified of minoxidil --I mean, I didn't want to grow hair *and* a beard.lol So when I started with Wen I was skeptical..I mean, who'd believe it? But seriously it does work...it doesn't have any side effects besides thick gorgeous hair--just on your head!lol
Hope that helps...and welcome to the forum!!! Woot!!
Thank you so much! I used the Spring Orange Blossom because that's what they sent with my starter kit. I guess I'm not familiar enough with the different cc's to know which is wheat-based vs. soy-based. I think I should try one of the others, but not sure which one yet. Which do you use?? Also, where do you find the oils?? Nothing in my packet showed treatment oils so I'm confused!
Funny about the minoxidil - I was worried about it too but so far I haven't had any facial growth (thank goodness!) and I've been using it for about a year. I just don't know how to use it with WEN. I stopped using it two weeks ago to prepare for starting WEN. Maybe I just wait awhile and see . . .
This is the best forum ever - I can't believe how helpful everyone has already been! YAY! THANK YOU again!

It may be the rinsing, or a sensitivity to an ingredient? But my other thought is that adding a few splashes of water to your head after you apply the CC really helps emulsify and froth up the cleanser and cleanse the scalp... and helps it to rinse easier too. Maybe try it one more time and really work/massage that cleanser around your scalp and hair after you add the splashes of water and see if you still get itchy. If you do then yeah it may be a sensitivity to an ingredient.
I can't comment on the interaction with the other product, call the salon about that.
What other goodies came in your kit!?
THANKS! I'm going to try this again with your suggestions. Do I wait two or three days? I can't believe I will be able to wait to "wash" my hair again for three days! Is it possible??
My kit came with a travel kit, the ReMoist Intensive Hair Treatment, the comb, the 613 bottle, the anti-frizz styling creme, replenishing treatment mist, two pumps and a burlap bag. I have no idea how to use all that stuff, much less in what order!
So glad I found you guys!!!

It could be just a case of over-zealous scalp scrubbing. Sometimes when someone first starts using WEN, they feel they have to really SCRUB their scalps to get it clean to make up for lack of suds and they get their scalp irritated. It's not necessary to scrub it any more than when you were using shampoo. The splash of water is a great idea - it helps distribute the cc and makes it rinse easier.
Like chickenmoo said, some people get an irritation from either wheat or soy based formulas. The seasonals, like you used, are soy based. If you got one of the core formulas with your starter kit, it should be wheat-based, and you could try using that.
Your questions are always welcome!
HaHa -- I bet you are right, I did scrub pretty hard last night. It just felt so weird washing without feeling "soapy!" Thank you for welcoming me to the forum. I'm so glad I found you; was really feeling a little stressed out and overwhelmed.

I use Rogaine for women. I have been using it successfully for a year, and I have been using Wen for 6 months. I use them together; I just make sure my scalp isn't wet or dripping water. I'm having great results with it, so I'm not ready to let it go and give in to Wen.
As for the itching, I experienced that as well. I think the CCs I used cleansed my scalp, including the sebum, which caused an itchy scalp. That was resolved when I started using Wen Treatment Oils the night before cleansing.
Wen can be a lot of trial and error. It took close to 6 months to find a regimen that works for me:
Weekend cleanse: Tea Tree Oil overnight, 613 first cleanse, Fig second cleanse, ReMoist + Lav Oil leave-in
Mid-week cleanse: Tea Tree Oil overnight, Tea Tree first cleanse, Fig second cleanse, ReMoist + Lav Oil leave-in
Thank you so much! Do you use the Rogaine as a dropper on your scalp? When do you put it on? I used mine when it was wet and then again at night dry, but it sounds like the possibilities for using WEN treatments are in the morning and night as well -- I'm confused!
I was having good results with minoxidil (same as Rogaine) before, but my hair was always really dry and I had lots of flyaways and some thinning spots in some places. I would like to have the benefit of both minoxidil AND lovely soft hair that WEN promises. I'm greedy, I guess!
Could you tell me where you get the Tea Tree OIL? I haven't seen anything that says oil treatments yet . . .
Finally: do you find it best to order the different cc's directly from WEN or do you buy the special kits as offered here (or a mix of both)? I'm trying to figure out the best way to "stock up" on the few different formulas I need.
THANKS AGAIN for replying to my questions!!!

Very good to know; thank you!

You've already been given some great advice, so I'll add my two cents.........once I apply the Cleansing Conditioner (focusing on my scalp), I add more than just a "splash" of water to it. I literally stick my head back under the shower for a couple of seconds. This allows me to more easily massage it into my scalp and then throughout the length of my hair. Also, I do not use my fingernails to scrub my scalp, just the pads of my fingers. Like others have mentioned, I rinse well, using my fingers to lift the hair away from the scalp to make sure it's thoroughly cleansed.
Thank you! Great advice; I am going to try this again with everyone's suggestions. How many days do I wait??

Don't overthink this. It's WEN, but it's still just washing your hair. Wash your hair when you feel like it or think you need to. You can do it every day or once or twice a week, depending on your hair.

Most questions have been answered, but I want to address this one:
"Third, I read that some of you alternate the formulas you use throughout the week. Should I do that? Can anyone give me a summary of the order of which to use the additional treatment products too? I haven't tried any of the other goodies that came with my kit yet. It's a little overwhelming!"
I advise slowing down some and not worrying about what to alternate and try next.
Alternating formulas: You've used the product once, so I'm going to say no. You have no need to alternate anything right now and I would really encourage you to concentrate on the cleansing conditioner for now and get a feel for what it is, how it works best for you, and what effect is has on your hair. You should try the 613 to see if you like that, but I would spend the first few weeks just evaluating those and not worrying about other formulas or alternating. Once you've used those, then consider what you like and don't like about them so you know what you might want to try next. You might want more moisture, you might want something to promote hair growth, just decide after you've used the products for a while.
Since both of the cleansers you bought have the amino acids, I would recommend that your next purchase be a core formula that's light on protein. Too much protein can cause dryness.
You should try the ReMoist treatment out. I like it as an overnight treatment. The video should show you how to use it. If not, you can search for it here and watch the video presentation to see how to use it.
I love the Replenishing Treatment Mist for my face and body even more than for my hair. When I do use it on my hair, it's for days I don't wash my hair. I use a spray bottle of water to mist it until it's damp, then add some Mist over that to add some conditioning and real moisture back in. (The water I sprayed on it will just evaporate and leave no benefits behind, but it reactivates my styling products and allows me to scrunch my curls back in without adding frizz or stickiness.) If I just used enough Mist to get my hair wet enough to do that, it would get sticky, so the water first makes a big difference.
Try not to get overwhelmed. You can use ONLY the cleansing conditioner for a while and see benefits, then add the other products and see how you feel about them.
Before you buy an expensive WEN oil, you may want to buy some Jojoba oil from a health food store (some grocery and drugstores carry it now) and try that on your scalp. If you like that, then consider upgrading to the WEN oils. There's no need to run out and spend a lot of money on products all at once.

I use the dropper Rogaine twice daily. When I apply the oil to my scalp the night before a cleanse, I use my evening Rogaine earlier, then 3-4 hours later, I apply the oil. In the morning, I cleanse, then wait an hour and apply Rogaine. I take the bottle to work with me.
How long have you been using Bosley? I'm sure they told you that when you stop, you will lose your progress. That's why I don't want to stop Rogaine.
I buy the Tea Tree Oil from QVC.
I buy my CCs and ReMoist from Wen/Guthy Renker (infomercial). If they don't carry something, then I will buy it from QVC (32 ounces, oils and BGT). I haven't yet purchased anything from Chaz Dean.

Ahhh you bought your kit from Guthy Renker, from the infomercial. First, I hope you know that you have been signed up for auto-delivery and they are going to charge your card every month unless you cancel.
Most of us buy here from QVC.
I'd wash it again soon so we can help you figure out what is causing the scalp issues, but hey glad your hair feels great!
Please tell us more about your hair type and length. How many pumps of the cleanser did you use your first time?
The styling cream is used on wet hair after you cleanse, it's a heat protectant and frizz control gel-type cream. The replenishing treatment mist is used to refresh your hair on days you don't cleanse, but you can also use it on your face and skin. The remoist is a deep conditioner you leave on for an hour, or overnight.
