Terrier, this is ideal for me! I'm going to do it every 6 months, it's in my calendar. I just have to remember to use a quarter sized amount instead of 8 pumps worth.

Nickyo, congrats on your transition! I was natural for a few years before I used Wen. Fig and 613 are the perfect formulas for transitioning hair.

The Pantene shampoo that I used yesterday is Pantene Pro-V Dry to Moisturized. It's a sulfate shampoo. It's so moisturizing, I can finger detangle.

Hi janey, I have hair to below my shoulders(which is fine and oil) if and use the full amount of pumps(about 20 pumps) on my cleanse... just all at once. I can not explain why this works. The only thing I can contribute to to is the first cleanse..using reg. shampoo removes the WEN from my previous wash and which...maybe... WEN coats the hair?

My hair as still improved using my method of reg. shampoo first and WEN last. My hair has doubled in thickness, is shiny and bouncy. I used to have to wash my hair everyday and if going some where at night 2x a day. It was a real pain because my hair was so oily. I can now go 2 days and possibly a 3rd if I do not get hot and sweaty. What a relief that has been!

Hi SGH!!

Croemer -

I think you are really on to something!

Thanks for your contributions on the WEN forum.

You bet, hope it works for anyone experimenting around and not being able to find the best solution for their hair type.

Geez, I was tired last night...I am surprised you could understand what I was saying. LOL

I'd use it the same way I used any other conditioner, because that's what it is. (I was always very liberal with my conditioner.)

If the bottle says you need 20 pumps for your hair length, that's two washes of 10 and 10. So if your hair is a length that WEN says you need 20 pumps for and you're only using it as your conditioner, I'd use 10.

Very interesting thread. I don't currently do this but may try it sometime if I feel my hair needs it. Especially in these warm summer months.

I almost completely gave up on Wen until I decided to try the shampoo first, and then use Wen as my conditioner. I have very thick, coarse, shoulder-length hair, and every Wen combination and technique that I tried yielded terrible results. Always frizzy, thicker ( like coated, no matter how long I rinsed), and just plain unmanageable. One day I decided to try the shampoo first method, and now I could not be more pleased with the results! The shampoo that works best for me is Giovanni Clarifying and Moisturizing, and I swear that doing my hair this way makes my hair more "Wen girl" looking than when I was cleansing with only Wen. I know that Chaz and most of the Wen ladies would not approve, but I only can repeat what I have read here so many times: everyone's hair is different and you have to go with what works for you.

Evangeline, you don't need anyone's approval. If something works for you, do it with no regrets!

Thanks Honny, when I really think about it, I guess it is not so much about approval, but about hoping I don't unwittingly offend anyone. You know how upset people can get, even with the best intentions, because they feel that they know the answer, and all hair will respond like theirs. Bottom line for me is that it is better to use Wen the way that I do, than not at all. And let's not forget that it only costs half as much when you use half of what you are "supposed" to use!
