I'm going to get a haircut tomorrow and want any opinions. I'm 60+ with dry ,straw like dark brownish hair in a chin length bob with bangs and really want to go short and choppy. I have really ugly frizzy dry hair and need a change. would anyone out there dare to go short with hair like this or just trim it up a little. I've had this haircut since I'm three!!!

I say go for a change. Bring some pictures of examples to your stylist. 57 years is a little too long for one style.
And if you hair is dry, straw-like, and frizzy, I think you need to update your products, too.

Go for it. I bet you'll love it.

Definitely GO FOR IT! It's only hair and will grow back, if you want it to. Past time for a change, don't you think? My advice is to take a picture of what you have in mind. Discuss it with the stylist, then ask for a deep conditioning treatment for your dry/frizzy problem. Cutting may actually help that. Also, take a look at what you are using on your hair. Get rid of sulfates/parabens that dry the hair out. As about styling products to help control your frizz. Best of luck!!!!!

Google pictures of Jennifer Lawrence. She has a short, choppy hair cut. Super cute!

Have you tried to deep condition your hair? If you perm your hair that will ruin it over time........you might want to try and grow out your bangs and have one length at the chin.......or you could put your hair up..........if you cut it short I would still deep condition your hair weekly and then have a styling mousse and then it might be great to air dry. It is best to look at pictures but know that in magazines for hair design they use extensions and wigs and all kinds of things........you hair texture plays a huge role in the way your hair style will work on you. So excited for you and if you need a pick me up.........deep condition your hair and buy a beautiful new lipstick.

I'm leaning towards cutting off the older, dehydrated locks and starting over with a moisturizing routine. It's easier to use treatments -- whether it's a hot-oil concoction or simply running jojoba-soaked fingers through the strands -- when your hair is short.
I've been thinking of doing the same myself. Just prune the old winter growth and start anew.
Be bold.
