Re: YOUR STYLE TYPE-- "ESSENCE"

@Oznell   Yes, definitely a winter! I've dressed in high contrast clothing most of my life. When I let my hair grow out grey, it messed up the "formula". I tried to regain the contrast, but the light hair and fair skin just didn't work. I met for lunch with a longtime fellow makeup artist and we discussed it. I ended up adding darker lowlights (keeping some grey for low maintenance) and it worked. I'm back to being a winter.

***My eyes are olive green/grass green or can look a blue green depending what I wear. A few years ago, I started adding olive green to my quite neutral choices. By all info on a winter, it was a "NO", but I figured if I matched my eyes, it had to work and it does...if it's olive w/ not yellow in it.

Re: YOUR STYLE TYPE-- "ESSENCE"

@Allthingsgirly67 ,  agreed, they seem to use the term "romantic' in a very all-encompassing way!  Interestingly, they categorize those three actresses in three different Essences, I think, even though they all share that 'sultry' quality.

@Icegoddess ,  I'm no expert in the various theories, but, to some degree, they do seem to opine that some physical characteristics do indeed direct one's style essence-- whether one has blunt bones or sharp; mostly curving lines, or straight and linear; etc. etc.  Of course, not everyone sees it that way...

Our dear @ECBG would sometimes direct me to the fashion thread where you and @wilma share your charming outfits -- outstanding!  And you seem to have a totally sure sense of your own enhancing style.

Just for fun, were I to guess where you would land in this particular system, I get a real gamine feeling from you, but melded with other key styles, like maybe you would be 'Romantic Gamine', or 'Dramatic Gamine.'... but of course your unique style is all your own.

@Shanus ,  that contrast thing is so important!   You found a way to introduce more of it back into your look, and bingo, you were brought back into harmony again.

I'm the opposite as a summer.  Have low contrast between eyes, skin and hair.  If I wear anything sharply contrasting, or say, very deeply saturated, which would set up a departure from my lighter natural coloring, it's a disaster.  The jarring contrast enters the room before I do....

Fascinating about the olive thing on a Winter-- I well believe it.  I discovered some time back that I could wear a lighter, sage-y olive, if it was light enough.  Noticed that would get compliments when wearing it.  My eyes, which are a muddy bluish gray, not clear, turn olive when I wear it too.   Yet, teal, which is supposedly 'cooler," does NOTHING for me-- is actually 'draining' if deep enough, ha.

@Oznell   Pastels should be "iffy" for winters, but i can wear baby pink. I think it's like a blush for my cheeks. Yellow and baby blue...no.

Exactly, good way to put it, @Shanus -- pink is like makeup!

Re: YOUR STYLE TYPE-- "ESSENCE"

I have read that with Winters, the pastels have to be very icy, not powdery, if that makes sense.

Re: YOUR STYLE TYPE-- "ESSENCE"

Had a hard time with this. There are probably so many variations. The Nancy Drew one fits my personality. When I was younger, I fancied myself as looking like Sally Field, with a round face and pug nose.

Re: YOUR STYLE TYPE-- "ESSENCE"

I've read that too, @Steffdoggy10 ,  and it makes sense to me too.  Just like the more "powdery",  soft pastels seem to lean "Summer"....

@AuntG --   right, variations galore.  If you are in the ballpark of Sally Field, I'd hazard a guess you'd fit their 'Nancy Drew look' as described, very well!
