Re: YOUR STYLE TYPE-- "ESSENCE"

@Oznell   My coloring has always been difficult..most would say a winter since my natural hair color is almost black, green eyes and quite fair skin.

@Oznell  You might enjoy searching Susan Blakey's style blog.  She considers herself to be gamine if I recall correctly. Plus she's become a color consultant. She's probably a bit older than you but interesting.

Re: YOUR STYLE TYPE-- "ESSENCE"

I'm definitely a soft dramatic with may be a little romantic thrown in. I have never looked good in classic clothes. They just look really plain and boring on me. I admire them on others though.
I have high contrast, coloring, dark hair, blue eyes, and very fair skin. The jewel tones. look best on me.
I like more of a sharp minimalistic clothing style with some kind of dramatic or structured shape and an element of sophistication. When I was younger, I was a big White House, Black market fan.
I think with these Different styles talked about, you can also do a process of elimination, and figure out your style that way.

@Desertdi   I feel ya!!! Diiicult to find clothing that fits and the petite depts. are slim to none. Designers are thinking we don't exist and maybe just take a few inches off pant's lengths. Well, petites are 5'4" and under which still means "to the tailor" to take 4" off for me. Sleeves are too long, buttons always in the wrong place, jackets too long and too expensive to alter. I'd love a v neck top instead of crewneck sweaters, but the bottom of the v is under my bo*bs. Not a good look. Lol

Re: YOUR STYLE TYPE-- "ESSENCE"

@Shanus ,  ah, a Winter.  I don't know why I thought you were a Summer or Spring!   You have striking coloring that reminds me of my mother--  near-black hair, fair skin.  She had hazel eyes, but they were changeable, to often appear sea green.  Looked good in the classic Winter colors of red, black, etc.

@tansy ,  I haven't checked Susan's ( "Une femme...") blog for some years-- just went back to look.  I'm sorry to hear she's been widowed --- she and her husband seemed such a neat team...

@Steffdoggy10 ,  wow, a Soft Dramatic!  That is fascinating, since in real life I don't get to see that Essence that often.  I love your assessment of what works for your style and it sounds spot on.

Soft Dramatic is stunning--

And of course Sophia, the pre-eminent celeb Soft Dramatic!

Re: YOUR STYLE TYPE-- "ESSENCE"

Oh, and your advice, @Steffdoggy10 ,  about doing a process of elimination to determine your style essence is so good.  It's sometimes easier to say, well, I know I'm not this or that particular essence, right off the bat.  And then work from there.

For example, I think Natural is one of the essences that has a long vertical line in their body.  I knew that characteristic didn't apply to me and could eliminate that one right off.  And work from there.

Ditto, I knew that I could NOT be predominately Classic,  (even though I have a little accent of that, underneath my more predominant essences),  because symmetry is a big part of the Classic aura.  Also, they look their best with every hair in place, while I look my best, when tousled....

Marilyn Monroe “romantic”, more like “sexy” along with Sophia Loren, and Jayne Mansfield.

Re: YOUR STYLE TYPE-- "ESSENCE"

No idea.  I don't even understand the descriptions.  What I wear totally depends on the circumstance. It's jeans and no makeup 99% of the time.  But, once a week, I get dressed up for church and I do the full makeup and heels.  Today I even wore gold sparkly eyeshadow.  Maybe eclectic is my style.  I would hesitate to pigeonhole someone on their body shape or facial characteristics.  That is something they can't change, and they don't necessarily dress according to those characteristics.
