I need shoulder replacement surgery and even now, I cannot lift my dominant arm over my shoulder. I don't care when I am home with no place to go but I need something for doctor's checkups. I don't want to spend a lot of money since this will be a temporary solution. Can someone with wig knowledge suggest good sites that you have had success with?

good luck with your surgery cdh.
i would recommend paulayoung.com for an affordable wig that you'd be happy to wear now and then.
i also have had good experience with wigstudio1.com and wigs.com, where i have purchased higher end wigs.
wishing you a speedy recovery.

I am sorry to hear about your shoulder problem, and wish you success with your surgery..........but..........how will you raise your arm to get the wig on your head? di

I'm fairly new to wigs, but when the lockdown started I began to buy some online, and now I feel familiar enough to give suggestions.
I can't believe I even considered a wig at all, but I came across youtubers reviewing them, and as I have been so upset with my hair these past few years, I thought I'd give them a try. I still have lots of hair for my age, but since turning 70 it's become much harder to manage. Some of these wigs give me a look similar to the hair I had in my youth and it's so much fun. I had to get used to the feel of wigs on my head, but it's like anything else, if you give it time you adjust and if the wig fits properly, you forget you have it on.
I have purchased both more expensive wigs, and more affordable ones. To tell you the truth I often like the cheaper ones better.
Definitely try PaulaYoung.com. Some of my favorites are from her site. It's a good company to order from. Also wigstudio.1 and The Wig Company. There are other good ones too. All the sites have sales constantly.
You may not end up liking wearing wigs, I could understand that, but you may find them a nice option and continue with them after your shoulder heals. I wouldn't be surprised.
Wigs and wig wearing have changed a lot, I guess, from years ago, and it seems so many younger women and women who have okay biological hair wear them and regard them as an accessory.
Good luck with your choices. It's easy to make mistakes at first. I have a couple of wigs that were just poor choices that I made at the beginning. Check out the videos on youtube.

I went thru breast cancer and chemo so I lost all my hair. before any treatment started, I went to a local wig store and bought my first wig--the owner helped me with color and style and would have trimmed it up for me. that was a really nice wig--over $100 but ins paid for it. and then I got 2 more from the cancer center at the hospital for free--both were my fave styles and close to my original color---all were very comfy and easy to wear. So...if you have a local wig shop, I suggest you go there with the safety cautions of course. I can't imagine ordering wigs online. You really need to try them on in person but I don't know how hard that will be. It's all about adjusting and combing and tweaking them --might take a few times but I got mine looking so good that NO ONE knew I had a wig on. After my hair grew back, I donated them back to the hospital--wish I kept one tho----my hair was a hot mess until I got my first haircut after quarantine was over. Had shoulder surgery myself a few years ago so think a wig is a great idea. Good luck.

Had shoulder surgery replacement....what a miracle....I purchased a styling brush that also was a hair dryer....one handed styling....
this is short term..I would not get a wig unless you normally wear them....
BUT...just practice taking care of Bathroom duties with the non dominate hand...it is tricky!!. lol

I just purchased my first wig because of hair loss. I would’ve preferred to go to a wig store for help but I can’t right now. I ordered a Toni Brattin wig in light gray from QVC and was pleasantly surprised. The color is very close to my natural color and doesn’t look overly shiny, nice mix of color. The style worked for me right out of the box. I don’t know if that’s unusual.

@cddh Check out turban flower caps at Amazon. I see a set of 6 for $20. Much easier than learning to use a wig.

I can spot a wig a mile away.
The "hair" doesn't move like real , natural hair.
It's stiff, and just looks fake.
I would spend the money and get a good quality wig made from real human hair.

I would hope to depend on my daughter in law who lives next door for this rare instance.
