Shall I send you copies of everything I sent? No? Ok then. The only person I NEED to prove it to was WEN and Co. and they didn't give a hoot.

Menthol is an issue for me in ANY hair product, I have since found as  well as eucalyptus. I now stay far away from both.

What did you want them to do for you? You have an allergy to menthol so now you avoid it, which is the logical thing to do. I'm not sure what you wanted the company to do for you beyond acknowledging your allergic reaction? Would you mind sharing what email address you sent the info too? TIA!

Really? I'm not doing this with you.

DONE.

It was a simple request as I'm trying to find out where it was sent as different emails go to different places so it may explain why you had no response. Not sure why that would make you angry. But whatever, it has become clear that you have your mind set and nothing will change it and you seem very angry so Yes, we are done. Have a good day, enjoy the beautiful weather.

eTA: and one last note, I have been very vocal about my disdain for the use of menthol and eucalyptus in hair and skincare products so I understand and appreciate the concern about these ingredients in products. I wish more people would request them to be removed from products with companies, hence one reason I was interested in who you tried to contact.

Lol! I remember multiple threads started by you, @Sweet_Serenity, Woohooing and praising WEN to the Moon, and your hair "never was better", with pictures of you to boot, and all.....  Priceless posts...... Even old Wenners would raise their brow on so much praise, like it was a HG!

Glad you now have your new "Woohoo" and no more gummy hair. Woman LOL

The Daily Mail is a UK tabloid. I don't get my medical information from the Daily Mail. I note that they quoted someone who "has spent three years studying the ingredients in cosmetics and toiletries," but they did not name a study he has actually published, listed any publication in which he'd had a study published, or provided a link to any peer-reviewed study published by anyone.

thanks for sharing the article!

i had not heard that there is a proposed settlement on the table.......

Even in the absence of federal action, Guthy-Renker, in a “business decision,” agreed in late June to a $26.25 million legal settlement — still not approved by a federal court judge — that would repay up to $25 to every person who has bought a bottle since Wen products were introduced and as much as $20,000 to individuals claiming hair loss or other injury.

Some people are allergic, some are not.  I think that goes for many things.  I know I'm allergic to penicillin and other sulfa drugs - doesn't mean they should be off the market.

The problem with non-regulated products like WEN is that potential purchasers don't have a fighting chance to know if they might have a problem - although I had no idea I was going to be allergic to penicillin until I took it and it's certainly regulated.

This is what it comes down to for me, too. If I sued everyone over every single thing that gave me a reaction and expected those products to be pulled from shelves, many if you would have to give up your favorite products, from laundry detergent to soap to perfume.

One of the asthma medications I've been on for 20 years now was linked to several deaths. There was talk in the media that it might be pulled of the market. It has a label that reads, "may increase the risk of asthma-related death." But they company hasn't even lost a lawsuit over the drug and it's used by countless people in countries all over the world because it is also very effective for millions and millions of people. In the 43 years I've had asthma, it's been the most effective drug I've used to prevent asthma attacks. The pros simply outweigh the cons, even if a con is actual death, because the PROS include being able to breathe, not being hospitalized, being a productive human at work and at home and the con risk is very small.

@Jacie  My neighbor used THe Honest Company sunscreen on her daughter and Holy Moly... had to take her to the doc because of the welts. The child was screaming.....

They took pictures and included the report from the pediatrician and sent it to the CS department of the company. When Jessica Alba said people were lieing about it and it was fine, my friend got P1SSED! Took everything she owned by The Honest Company, boxed it up and sent it back with a scathing letter and said she would never use the products again. She then contacted all the moms in her mommy groups, co-workers with kids and told them what she did and many did the same thing!

When it was found that the product was NOT as "honest " as Alba claimed and people WERE getting burned an ingredient (as well as the spf protection was NOT what she claimed), the product was pulled. I have no idea if it was revamped as I won't support the company. So to those who stated otherwise, YES a  company CAN be made to pull a product when a few have a horrible reaction; especially if they claim it's so mild it can be used on young children.

I reacted to the menthol in WEN and lost my hair (50% of it) and NEVER heard from WEN despite sending documentation and photos certified mail. Still ticks me off when I think about it.

The Honest Sunscreen was never pulled from where I lived. It still is on the shelves of my Costco and has ever since I heard about the issues with it. Can you provide me the link to a legitimate source where it states it was ever actually pulled? I had been following that story and watching it at my Costco and never saw it disappear and I did ask my friend that works there and she said they never received any notice to pull it. I had some of the sunscreen before the big stink came out about it and I compared the ingredients to the ones still in the store and they are the exact same. I do not think it was ever pulled although I did bring mine back because I am not fooling around with the possibility of sun damage and skin cancer and if there is even a remote possibility my skin may not truly be protected, I won't risk it.

See, easy peasy- I simply just don't use it.

ETA: I just found this article on Forbes:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidkroll/2015/08/03/the-failure-of-jessica-albas-honest-company-sunscr...

It is interesting, if you read it does NOT say it was pulled by the FDA and the company still insists it is safe and that it is USER ERROR as to why people are still getting burned. They did tweak the formula a little but ONLY because some people complained of a white cast and the smell of the product. So you are right, there are complaints but NO the FDA nor any other entitity forced them to pull the product and, in fact, found it was safe. Like the one statement from the company said, and which applies to WEN as well:

"The Honest Company is committed to providing safe and effective products, and we take all consumer feedback very seriously.

Our Sunscreen Lotion was tested, by an independent 3rd party, against the protocols prescribed by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) monograph for over-the-counter sunscreen products. The results showed that our product is effective and safe for use as an 80 minute water-resistant (FDA’s highest rating), SPF 30 sunscreen lotion in accordance with FDA regulations when used as directed (Shake Well. Apply liberally and evenly 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying and at least every 2 hours).

The number of complaints received on our own website about our Sunscreen Lotion constitute less than one half of one percent of all units actually sold at honest.com."

I agree about the Daily Mail.    Even so, the fact remains that some chemicals are absorbed through the skin, some aren't.   We know some medications, for example, are delivered via patches on the skin.    I have no idea which ingredients in cosmetics make it through, though.
