WHAT DO YOU PAY FOR A MANICURE?

I used to get a manicure and pedicure every two weeks when I was working.

When COVID hit, and I retired, my manicurist retired.

I've been looking online for local shops and was surprised at the prices.

These days, everything is Ă  la carte, and a mani can range from $18 to $80 ... or more!  Gel nails, add-ons, painting little pics, you get the idea.

A pedicure is for a trim and polish.  If you want callouses removed, that costs extra.

Wow.

I signed up to be on the mailing list for several locations locally.  I think they're a franchise, but it looks likely I'll get a "first time" discount.

So .... what do you pay for a manicure these days?

Re: WHAT DO YOU PAY FOR A MANICURE?

I get a simple manicure....no more wraps, acrylics or gel. No fancy nail art.  She just removes polish, files my nails smooths the cuticles and puts on a base coat, two coats of polish and a top coat. It takes her less than half an hour and she charges $23.00.  I go every two weeks.

I don't like anyone touching the bottoms of my feet so she just removes the old polish, soaks the toes a bit, adds lotion, trims & files then adds polish.  It's about $35.00 to do that.  I only get my toes trimmed over the winter and will get polish once the weather warms up and have it done over the summer.

I have been going to the same girl ....now a middle aged woman for over thirty years.

Simple basic manicure with two coats of polish along with a base coat and other routine steps. I pay $23 plus $5 tip. I supply my own polish, but that does not change the price. I prefer my own polish to the OPI polish carried by the salon as it is a polish that is recommended to strengthen nails. I had one gel manicure and my nails did not like it.

Re: WHAT DO YOU PAY FOR A MANICURE?

My manicure ranges between $20-$30.  I get my nails wrapped because they are weak but no more gel for me and light colors only on my hands.  I have been going to the same manicurist since the 80's so I get asked lot of free perks like designs.

I always get the spa pedicure at another favorite spot, it use to be $55 now it's $63.  Includes callus removal, polish, 10 minute massage with this soothing lotion then they finish me off with those warm black stones and warm towels.  It's really a treat and so relaxing.  I've been going there for probably 15-20 years.
