I am baffled. I had such high hopes for the WEN cleansing conditioner I ordered about 3 weeks ago. I really was excited to get it, but it was such a disappointment! My hair felt heavy and "dirty" after every use. I tried everthing from using more (since on the WEN site it says you can never use too much) to using less (thinking maybe I had too much and it just wasn't getting rinsed out) to rinsing and rinsing and rinsing. Nothing made a difference. I keep thinking I must be doing something wrong, but nothing has worked! I contacted the WEN company directly and they just said I must not be rinsing enough and to rinse for at least 2 minutes. I have rinsed longer than that and still no change. How can a product that has been raved about as much as this on QVC and the inframercial be this bad. I just don't get it!

What am I doing wrong?? Anything helpful tips or suggestions??

Re: WEN cleansing conditioner

Hi keenta and welcome!

Which "Wen company" did you call? Was it the number from the informercial or the Chaz Dean salon?

Since you said you are using the recommended amount, here are some key tips for what may have caused your issue...

#1 Cleanse, rinse, and repeat. Think of it as 2 steps just like shampoo and conditioner.

#2 Add a few splashes of water to your hair after you apply Wen, this helps emulsify the cleanser and you can really work it into a froth. Your hair should feel clean when it rinses out.

If you'd like to share your hair length and type, which formula, and how many pumps you used, then we may be able to help more.

Re: WEN cleansing conditioner

Thanks for your response. I called QVC and they directed me to the actual WEN website where I emailed my questions/concerns. I bought a 4 pack of pomagranate, tea tree, sweet almond mint and lavendar. Gotten the same results with each of them.

I have already been doing everything you said. I have fairly thick brown hair that is medium to long....comes down to right about my arm pits to give you an exact idea. Smiley Happy I have used differing amounts as I've been trying to figure this problem out, but for the most part have used 10-12 pumps each time I wash and I wash twice. I rinse thoroughly. As I said, this is just strange. I have been so frustrated and tempted to send it back, but I know how much better it is for your hair than regular shampoo and just kept working with it hoping I could figure something out.

It was interesting in reading through the reviews on QVC. Most of them were positive, however the ones that weren't were describing the same issue as me, so at least I know this is happening with other people as well. So strange how it could give such differing results. Maybe it's just not meant for everyone.

By the way, no clue what the first comment meant.

Re: WEN cleansing conditioner

Don't feel bad..Wen is not for everyone, even though Chaz wants to make you believe that..WEN is NOT FOR ME EITHER..My Husband LOVES it,BUT ME......OH NO,NO, NO! It didn't do anything my REGULAR Shampoo did and maybe EVEN WORSE....So, I kept it in my SHOWER for YEARS.I didn't want to throw out something that was EXPENSIVE..One day my Husband asked me about this bottle he had looked at for YEARS and FINALLY asked me WHAT IT WAS..I told him,he said: Maybe I'll try it....His hair is VERY SHORT and he sometimes has DANDRUFF..Well he loved it and no more DANDRUFF....But the downside....He does use "REGULAR" shampoo from time to time...Because he says his SCALP FEELS WAXY and he feels it NEEDS TO BREATHE..So, he'll CLEAN HIS SCALP and then back to WEN!

Re: WEN cleansing conditioner

You didn't mention your hair type? The Wen that you are trying are for normal hair. Hard/soft water also makes a difference. It does sound like it is staying in your hair. When you add the splash of water and then massage/scrub are you getting Wen to foam? I usually use more than 1 splash. If you are still not having any luck, try as PP suggested, shampoo first the a Wen and ease into it.

Re: WEN cleansing conditioner

The only tip I can think of is to tell you to focus on your scalp while cleansing. Put 4 pumps on the crown, 4 pumps on the nape, and 4-6 pumps on your length depending on the length of your hair. Do this twice. Make sure you really massage your scalp and add the extra splash of water to get it frothy and creamy. Rinse, rinse, rinse. I hope you can get it to work for you. Good luck!!

Re: WEN cleansing conditioner

What formula you choose makes a huge difference.

For me, the seasonals work the best. Even though I have very thick, heavy curly hair, Fig was too moisturizing for me. It left my hair kind of flat and pulled out the curl. Lavender is good mixed with a seasonal. Tea Tree is great for a first cleanse. Sweet Almond Mint was just OK. Pomegranate was also good mixed with a seasonal.

It sounds very complicated and confusing, but once you find your correct formula, it's clear sailing

Welcome Keenta!

Wen has a tremendous learning curve. Once you find the formulas and techniques that work for you, you won't look back.
