For the past five days, I've been using the Hair One CC for colored hair I purchased at Sally Beauty Supply. I think it's working out okay, but I really want to try WEN. However, I need help choosing the correct formula. I have short wavy/somewhat curly hair that is fine. I color my dark brown hair every four weeks to cover my greying roots. If I overcondition or use heavy styling products, it can go limp. On a good day, I can achieve great curls. I prefer to air dry or blow dry for less than a minute. Suggestions, please!

Re: WEN CC Formula Suggestion

If you like HairOne, you will LOVE Wen. I always recommend getting the discovery kit for new users because you can see how the different formulas work on your hair and find your favorite. The styling creme would also be something I would recommend. It works great at fighting frizz and smoothing your curls or waves. It also acts as a heat protectant when blow drying. If you are starting with just one formula, I suggest sweet almond mint. It is universal and was the first Wen scent/formula. The item number for the discovery kit is A219409. Here are some other great kits you may like A91596 and A254703. Good luck! Remember, come back to the forum if you have more questions.

Re: WEN CC Formula Suggestion

I have fine, wavy/curly, color-treated hair. It gets dry and frizzy easily and Fig works best for me. Don't be scared away by the "universals for fine hair" line - Fig works well for a lot of fine-haired ladies here.

Re: WEN CC Formula Suggestion

Hi Quaker. Welcome to the Wen Forum!

I used Hair One in between my Wen orders. It's okay, but there is truly no comparison to Wen. I have the Jojoba and Curly hair formulas.

Wen won't strip your color and, in my case, it brightens my grays. Choosing a formula is definitely trial and error. Like Hilary suggested, get a Discovery kit (which includes Fig) so you can determine which Wen works best for you.

Get your flu shot...because I didn't.

Re: WEN CC Formula Suggestion

I recently did a quest for the correct formula for a friend. Something to be very mindful of, while searching, is that some of the formulas contain menthol. I never paid any attention to this. In fact, I dismissed all the posts concerning menthol. I now know for some (asthma patients in particular and COPD patients to a certain extent) people this is a very critical ingredient to watch for in whatever products they may use. I started with Wen two years ago, and I am very happy with the results. Enjoy your new Wen journey.

Re: WEN CC Formula Suggestion

I won't use anything but Wen. My hair was so dull and dingy and lifeless from shampoo and coloring. I cut it all off up to the bottom of my ears and used nothing but Wen for four years and people look at my hair all the time and a lot compliment me and say it looks beautiful and I tell them it's the Wen. Some know about it and some don't. It is now down to my waist but yesterday I trimmed it a few inches just to get a nice even line. Wen truly is "turn back the clock" like Chaz says. I used to be on a "quest" for hair products and after finding Wen I had boxes and boxes of stuff to pitch. Only need Wen. My husband uses it too. His hair is very dry and course. He uses 613 and Fig. You can use ANY formulation and it will do wonders I believe. It just is a learning curve that's all. It took me a while to really learn the correct way but now I won't be without it. My hair is the opposite. Mine is like this...very oily scalp and fine but decent amount. I use all the formulations simply by choice and they all work fine for me. I mix them too. I was saying how I found a 16oz. bottle of Fall Apple Spice and mixed it with the Summer Honey Peach and Oh!!! What an enjoyable spa like shower that was. My Fall Apple Spice is used up and I don't think I have anymore in my little cash of Wen. I bet Chaz has every formulation all in separate slots in his shower where he just pumps from here and there just like at a soda fountain. Must be so much fun! His hair is so soft and supple looking. Proves Wen is best. He uses his own product and stands by it. Okay, no more prattling on. I'm just a Wen fan. xo

I also agree that buying a discovery kit is a good way to try Wen. I used Hair One before using Wen and it is a good alternative if I ever run out of Wen.
