There is definitely a learning curve, saving a top section to lay over the "voloomed" hair, and Jane was not using it correctly.
I had an original but it became too large when I cut my hair so I gave it to my DDIL . I ended up finding a Rootie, which is the same as the smallest size, on one of those deal site like GMA Deals, and I still haven't used it. I should pull it out and play around with it.

@Lisamartha wrote:I'm sorry (not) but this is the dumbest tool I have ever seen. You have to section every inch of your head, then fry your hair, and be sure to keep one hank of hair available to use to cover the fried hair. And it comes in three sizes when it doesn't matter because you are only frying the scalp section of hair. And there is no lift or volume. And it's $100! QVC, what the heck?
You don't section every inch of the head, only where you want some root lift, which is typically the crown. And you don't leave it on long enough to scorch the hair.

@Lisamartha - This product may be dumb to you, but many women rave about it.

At least it didn't cost $400!! Thats the only thing that I noticed and I never ever listen to anything JT says anyway--usually try not to watch her.

There is a learning curve with the Voloom. There are many "How-To" vids out there to see how it's done. The Voloom is a very popular tool and I think it's great that the Q finally brought it here.
FYI about the sizes...
The 1" and 1.5" have slightly larger nubs than the 3/4". The 3/4" inch is made to get closest to the root and is more useful for shorter hair. The other two larger ones can be used on the roots, too, but are better for longer hair.
If you go to the Voloom dot com website, there are vids there to see how to style your hair with the tool.
One of things I like about my Voloom is that, since I have an oily scalp, I can use the Voloom to lift my hair up off of my oily scalp so my hair doesn't get oily so fast. I can extend my hairstyle for a couple more days that way.

I have the smallest one, I think it may be the Rootie. The instructions specifically say not to keep it closed, just close it and then open it. I'm not the best at sectioning my hair though. That would be my only complaint. I don't use it often, but it's more about time than anything else.
I got mine on a GMA deal.

My bad. It was just my opinion but I guess some people love it.

The Voloom has been around for 10 years. I saw it on Hsn around that long ago. I'm actually surprised that it took so long to get to the Q.

@SilleeMee - This was posted on Facebook today. Looks like the crimping part in the back is visible. Was this done incorrectly?

No, that's not done right. You are only suppose to crimp the under layers. Also, never crimp the hair around your face. Start about one inch away from the hair line.
