I am having the same issue and live in So Cal. My lips are so chapped - kind of crusty along the border and the skin past the lip outline is very red and looks irritated Overall they are a little swollen and burn. I have been using the same toothpaste forever. Must be an allergy thing we are experiencing and last few days have been hot and dry to add to it. Living w/ aquaphor on my lips. No need for color - they a pink and red ![]()

I use pure shea butter and Laura Geller's sugar lip treatment.

La Mer is excellent, and lasts forever. I keep one by my computer and in my pockets.

True, it works. Pricey but lasts a long time. I love their hand cream too.

I can't identify the source of your problem, I can only say that I have the same problem. 2 or 3 times out of the course of a year, I can go as long for as a two month period where my lips get red, chapped and swollen. I have never identified what brings it on. While this is going on, I cannot wear any lip gloss or lipstick of any kind...everything burns. The best thing I can use during the day (everybody get ready to contest), is to wear a thin coat of vaseline and re-apply often. It gives me a little shine and does not irritate my lips. The best thing I do is to use a fairly thick coating of Aqua-phor ointment (it's the thick heavy duty stuff, I buy it in a large jar) all over my lips when I go to bed. On the weekends, if I'm not going out, I keep a thick coating on all day. It's a little messy, but it has done a world of wonder for me.

I have this same issue! Coconut oil is working for me! Nothing else seems to help.

If you want just a nice clear lip moisturizer try Blistex Simple and Sensitive (light blue tube), I bought a 3 pack of them while out Christmas shopping in Dec. and have been enjoying them since. I would buy them again.
I also like Burt Bee's tinted lip balms in the brown tube for when I am out and about, very nice at moisturizing AND color pay off.

I got the best results by using Aquaphor healing ointment (in a jar) every night. It also works great on dry, cracked heels. Hope this helps....

I've used Crest Baking soda with peroxide for years, but I know all of a sudden you can get allergic to things. I have used Vaseline and noticed no difference. Also tried coconut oil and it lasts about a second on my lips. I have had problems with my eyelids too (can't think of what it's called) so my skin must be reacting to things.
You've given me much to think about. Thank you.
That sounds like how my eczema started, around my mouth and lips and eyelids. It gets very flakey and read, especially when I sweat. The sweat burns it horribly. It is caused by fungus, so I have an antifungal to use when it really breaks out, but the olive oil helps when the cream gets it under control. You can't use the steroid based creams on the face because they thin the skin. Hydrocortisone over the counter may help if you catch it early enough. I just thought my oily skin was drying super out in a few areas, so I started trying different face moisturizers. NOTHING helped. I went to the dermatologist who got me the creams. It flares for me under stress and when I've been sweating tons in the summer. Summer is bad because the sweat dries out my skin more! I use the olive oil during the day and after I shower. I don't worry with eye makeup because of my glasses, so that isn't a problem during the summer.
