Went upstairs to my bedroom at my DD's and I got ready for bed and in a few minutes, my room was spinning around (the whole nine yards) etc so dizzy. It was horrible. Finally, I was able to tell that it could possibly be the detergent or fabric softener used on my sheets. (No cell phone nearby, my bedroom door was closed, other bedrooms were on other end of house. Finally, I heard someone downstairs in kitchen and was able to get help.)
With help from my DD & DSiL, I ended up sleeping on sofa and used my towel from home to cover my pillow. Washed the sheets with original Tide and no fabric softener. The next night, I was able to sleep on them with no problem.
Thank goodness she has now switched detergent, etc.
A friend of my sister's swears that eating salty foods can cause vertigo for him. I definitely believe that could be another cause.
My boss was told to restrict his sodium intake. Unfortunately I think this disease is quite a mystery. Years ago my sister knew a judge in NY who had to leave the bench because of vertigo. It is something I was not very familiar until it hit home.

I have had issues with vertigo off and on for a few years now, whenever I feel dizzy I use a natural oil blend behind my ears called DiVertigo, it works very well.

I get vertigo several times a year, my ears fill with clear fluid, causes dizziness so now I am on a nasal spray the doctor thinks it might be an allergy because it happens a couple of times a year. Last week I nearly hit the floor when I got out of bed......felt like I'd been drinking all night.

You can get it at Walgreens. Google "Lipo-Flavonoid" for more information. when he has an attack he gets ringing in his ears first, then get violently sick to his stomach, then the dizziness. Has to go to bed in 24 hours he is better. We have found that when the barometric pressure is up is when he would have an attack. Due to the pressure in the atmosphere. We found a good support group on line and got lots of great help from others. We have it under control using alternative supplements verses medical meds. Less salt in ones diet really help with fluid build up in the deep inter ear canal.
Wow and thank you I have had the ringing in my ear for the past 6 or so weeks and I was told this too shall pass. I have a 4 PM appointment with my doc. So I hope to have a little clarity very soon
and thank you

I forgot to say he does have hearing loss in both ears.... But not from the Menieres. He is able to travel by air, but must not sleep before take off or before landing. Must be sitting up right position. He did not want to take the prescription drug given for this because of long term it can cause "liver" damage! The fluid that causes this in really deep down in the inner ear canal and they cannot reach it with surgery.......On 1/10/2014 Save the Whales said: My hubby has Ménière's disease it is a form of vertigo. I've suffered with it on and off for a few years. Has to do for me with migraines and an inner ear thing that's related to congestion. Hang in there. Try to get to your doc and at least be seen and get a script for Anti-vert. Also, regular OTC Dramamine works, too. Not a perfect solution, but it should give you some relief.

Just back home on this rainy afternoon in the Lower Hudson Valley I have labyrenthitis, which can be caused by many different things.
I am on Antivert and Levaquin for the next week. I hope I get a better nights sleep tonight than last

I experienced vertigo the first time exactly one year ago. I was taking a nap on the sofa and upon waking, and half way upright, my head felt like it flew twenty feet across the room. Nausea was accompanying this severe dizziness. I still somewhat frequently experience vertigo, but the severity of that first event has never been matched, thank heavens. It felt as though my head was no longer attached to my body for that moment. I was too frightened to drive a car, and didn't, for quite awhile.
