My daughter is complaining of a very itchy scalp.  She does not have flakes/dandruff and I've checked for lice and she's fine.  She's been using the same shampoo/conditioner for some time now but I've stopped that.  Tried a couple others, especially those that say they are "clean" and no parbans, etc.  I even tried my husbands head and shoulders with scalp therapy last night and it didn't help.  I'm about to change laundry detergent.  Again, used the same for years...Purex with no dyes, etc.  Any one have experience with this?

TIA!

I have had the same issue.  I've been through the mill with the Dermatologist, who has finally concluded that the fault lies somewhere within the diabetes/thyroid systems.  Be sure your daughter is checked in these areas.  She also mentioned to me that she has had a couple of patients lately who have somehow transferred a yeast infection to the scalp. She thinks rubbinbg hands through the hair when hands had a trace of yeast on them.  These thoughts are just for your consideration.  Hope it helps.

It might be allergies.  Years ago I had a similar problem.  Doctor said it was an allergic reaction to something I ate!   He gave me some samples to use until it cleared up, and to see an allergist if it happened again.

massage apple cider vinegar into scalp .put a shower cap on and leave on for 15 minutes , wash hair with a shampoo containing argon oil .the apple cider vinegar smell does not stay , as soon  as hair is washed it goes away. It also make the jhair very shiny.

Re: VERY ITCHY SCALP

[ Edited ]

About three years ago I had the same symptoms you describe. When nothing I did on my own helped, I went to my dermatologist who prescribed a special anti-fungal shampoo that I had to use for 7 days straight as I recall.  Intense scalp itching was resolved immediately and never came back. Derm told me at the time that the issue was likely an overgrowth of yeast or other fungus and that OTC shampoos/scalp creams can't fix it so the prescription strength shampoo was needed. She was right!

After trying all kinds of products and treatments, WEN does not dry my scalp.

I use all different formulas so for me, it wasn't one formula that worked only, they all work for me.

I quit using shampoos with sodium laurel sulfates and the itch disappeared.

@brandiwine I stopped using shampoos and cond. with sulfates years ago. I also started using Nioxin once every 4th or 5th shampoo. It cleanses the scalp. I have color treated hair and it doesn't strip the color. I also put either coconut oil or argon oil in my hair with a cap on for 30 minutes (or even overnight) before shampooing my hair. I don't have that itching problem anymore. Hope you find something that helps.

I've had the exact same issue my scalp was itchy nothing seemed to help till I talked to my hair dresser and she said to use OGX brand hydrating + teatree and mint shampoo. It's sold at Walmart for $6 13oz green bottle. Let me tell you, I was thankful the first time I used it my head finally stopped itching and only got better ever time I used it. Also my hair isn't dry after use. They also have the Conditioner to match. This stuff is amazing 😊. Might I add,I tried Vinegar, dandruff shampoo and so many different shampoos that didn't help.
